To be fair he's probably telling the truth haha. I can't believe someone would even give him a coaching job after his last 3 years at Notre Dame. I'm not sure but I don't even think Weis played football at all or atleast collegiately . How can you take a guy serious who hasn't even played at a high level? and to be honest I couldn't get too motivated for a guy who looks like that and is probably the laziest guy on the campus. Weis shouldn't be coaching period.

The tuna is done... put a fork in him. This will be his last year at Kansas. Charlie still doesn't "get it". His massive ego will never be tamed enough for him to actually learn a thing or two about the HC jobs he's been gifted (thanks to Tom Brady).

Truer words never spoken. He is a joke.

Maybe he can be reunited with Bill & Tom as OC of the Patriots and gift them another super bowl ring since they can't seem to win one without him and a video camera!!

Come on guys, WAY TOO MUCH VITRIOL, to be justified by circumstances.....

To be fair Charlie is recruiting well for Kansas---he loaded up with three star players and a couple 4 stars and was # 45 in team recruiting for a team that was at the bottom of the barrel in production----he is off to a good start recruiting this season as well---he is NOT a bad recruiter and Kansas will see progress from the bottom dweller status with better players.

Charlie could not put a defense on the field in 5 years---HIS TRAGIC FLAW IMHO---Offensively the Irish were BETTER under Charlie for 4 of the 5 years then they have been under BK for all of his first three seasons.

He also took the team to TWO BCS bowls in his early career and raised NDs profile nicely after the Wyllingham debacle--likely his early momentum as a coach helped much with the BIG NIKE contract as well.

All in all--I just don't see the damage done by Charlie to be too great--certainly not great enough to justify the harsh attitudes fella's.

Charlie is an ND alum--he is a past ND head coach--in my view you don't have to like him but he does deserve some personal respect from ND fans if from nobody else.

just my two cents--aloha's

No kidding. I listened to his press conference and the entire time he was talking he was breathing really heavy. I feel that if i'm in a leadership position, i would like to set the example for others to follow. I don't want to sit there and be overweight and then tell others that they need to work out and stay fit. I think that's one of his main problems. Dude needs to get in shape. As my Wife use to say, "Look how big his front butt is!" Hahaha!

This. Yet as you know, Hawaii, these same guys who say they love ND and all her alums never resist a chance at throwing CW under the bus.

CW's recruiting saved ND after Willingham's destruction. Period.

CW didnt need any help with that. He did it himself. His recruiting did help... in the short term and in helping with the sting of TW going away. His "see these rings" method of recruiting and his "statistically superior play calling" just didnt have enough substance to maintain the program. He had no clue on how to build the defense and coach up all the players. Always befuddled me when looking at the caliber of coaches he brought in. The revolving door on the defensve side says it all.

It's not like he was a former linemen either, you see the nfl olinemen who have retired and they look in great shape (saw Shaun Ohara and Matt Birk on nfl network... you wouldn't have guessed they played o-line). He's got no excuse other than he's a lazy guy, players don't respond well to coaches who say one thing then do another. Someone brought up his figure in 2007 and it makes sense, can't tell players to work hard when your a couch potato. I would hope noone is dumb enough to give him another chance as a head coach.

Call Weis all the fat jokes in the book; however, he is ANYTHING but lazy. He worked his *** off in New England, South Bend, and now at KU. I don't recall seeing him golfing instead of recruiting, watching movies instead of game film, or going after low hanging fruit rather than making multiple Manti visits. And as far as his lack of playing experience, I'm guessing Lou Holtz didn't exactly light up the gridiron in his youthful days.

Move on from CW, dude. Any damage he inadvertently did is gone now and he always had the best of intentions. I wanted him gone in his last two years just as bad as anyone, but I still like the guy.

Jabba the Hut was a leader... i don't think your characterization is fair or accurate.

In fairness, I'm not CW fan as a HC... not because he's fat, but because he doesn't understand the psychology of leadership and organizations.

His inability to build a cohesive organization and develop players is what did him in. After his first 2 seasons he should have defensive recruits drooling to get into ND... "See... we can score, but I need people to stop others from scoring - that's how you win Championships." He should have been able to build line depth fast "See... we can score, but just imagine how many more points we could score if we had a stout line."

Always the skill players, probably because they could relate to his ego better.

I was frustrated by CW because of the all the potential he showed... it was to see ND's O roll those first couple of years, and then he got predictable, probably because he had no line depth. Got excited again for the Hawaii bowl... he should have stayed in the box.

There is utter failure and there is doing a lot of good things and falling sort of the mark.

Ty set us back.

Charlie moved the ball down the field pretty well but the drive stalled.

I don't dislike either man, but I respect Charlie a heck of a lot more for the stronger effort and some of the components he left in place for the following regime.

And I wish him nothing but the best.

Yeah the thing is Holtz might not have been a great player but at least he played at the next level. Also I don't see any fat jokes, I'm bringing up his obesity because it's a legit reason his players don't respond to him. All the high level football players take great care of their body and work their *** off to succeed on the field. Linemen are big guys but in no way are out of shape, those guys are conditioned. You think players are going to work their *** off for a guy that is in that bad of shape, no way in hell. I'm also not going out of my way to bring up CW just responding to a post.

Look at the top 50 teams in college football, or the top 25 every year. Tell me how many coaches are as out of shape or as obese as Weis? There may be the odd one but I doubt it. No football player will take you seriously if you can't take care of your own health.

All this hostility because Charlie is FAT--my my, as the saying goes , people in glass houses fella's---

I assume nobody in this thread has ANY personal weaknesses-----I admire all of you for leading such VIRTUOUS & SAINTLY LIVES----No womanizing--no drinking--lots of charity work & tithing---WHAT A STELLAR BUNCH WE ARE--;)

Saban screwed Miami and proved he is NOT a man of his word--Ty was totally self absorbed fella that didn't take his responsibilities seriously---

Come on guys--Joe paterno--mike leach--lane kiffin---Petrino--Tressel---& on and on and on LONG INTO THE NIGHT!__Charlie's flaws were minor compared to so so many others.

And on his fatness---

Chris Christie is the most popular governor in the country and has a decent shot at becoming president--nobody accuses the governor of ineptitude simply because of his weight--AND REMEMBER he had to have his STOMACH STAPLED to try and fix his weight problem----thats what Charlie did but he got SCREWED by his doctors & hospital and likely never can recover from that damage---

Have some freakin empathy fella's!!

Charlie is a very good OFFENSIVE coach who has not shown the skills to become a strong HEAD COACH---Fine, he failed at ND---and we got a great new coach and went undefeated last season---be happy!

But ragging on charlies health-- Man talk about beating a dead horse---GEEEZ

As far as his comments about his recruiting pitch --" have you seen that load of crap out there, I mean if you can't play here where do you think you can play"---it was black comedy---Funny & Sadly TRUE!--LIGHTEN UP BOYS!

He is stuck in the backwater with a bottom dweller---seems like Charlie has been punished enough in so many ways that ND fans can afford to be magnanimous.

Aloha's go irish!
