Personally, I thought the comment about Manti was harmless, but the comment about ND women was completely inappropriate and deserves an apology.

I didn't see it at the time, but I think it's out of line.

Honestly, last night's opening monologue made me sick to my stomach. Since when did ESPN become Comedy Central and Jon Hamm become Johnny f'ing Carson?

I was watching it with a few buddies of mine, and when he started in on Dwight Howard, I was a little confused as to what was happening. I mean, a couple light-hearted jabs would have been fine, but he was straight up laying into the dude.. and then they get to the Heat and he makes a joke about their hair lines? Way to really burn them, Jon.. I'm sure they were cut pretty deep.

Then he moves on to Michael Phelps.. makes some stupid joke about Lochte.. and it's on to the next one. I'm thinking again - "sweet joke, Potsie" - but at this point, I was hoping he went a little overboard on Dwight, but he was back to the regular light-hearted jabs that the ESPY's usually dish out. WRONG. He then makes the joke about Te'o and then ND's female population in general. WTF, Jon? You take the low hanging fruit with Te'o and Dwight but you leave the Heat and Phelps alone? When people think of Phelps, they think weed - but he didn't go that route, probably out of respect. Why not give the same respect to the other 2? He could've said something like "Oh, I see the members of the Heat are sitting together.. They can't do anything alone.." But again, he didn't. It was the same sh*t I've grown to despise about ESPN right out there on Main Street for everyone to see.. And it was awful..

Mark my words - What MTV did to a music network, ESPN will do to a sports network.. If you look closely, the wheels are already in motion.

Big deal, it was funny.

No different than people here still making fun of CW being fat.

^^^This. When did we all become a bunch of Sallys?

There's a big difference than humor (whether actually funny or not) and intentionally trying to verbally hurt someone. Nothing I saw last night falls into the latter category.

This article touches on that very fact. I have switched from running Sportscenter on my TV all the time to ESPNews or MLB network because I can't stand that they don't show highlights anymore...

That article is amazing..

Have you noticed they've started leading into commercials with cliffhangers before the break? Like.. "Stay tuned to find out" sh*t? When did SC ever do this before? I couldn't believe it was happening when I first saw it.. And now it's a staple.

Agreed! I have noticed that for a little bit now. Pisses me off! What makes me mad as well is when they have something on the left that they're about to talk about, but then go to commercial. After coming back from commercial, two more stories are in front of it. Then it goes to commercial again. It'll come back and be even further behind some stories. After about 5 commercials, they'll finally be talking about it! Total bull crap!

It has become increasingly painful to watch anything on Sports Center. The announcers are horrible with the exception of a rare few.

100% agree. A list of the analysts I can tolerate :

1. Mike and Mike - Because they are the best in the biz.

2. Wilbon and Kornheiser

3. Neal Everett

4. SVP

5. Stu Scott - and this one's shaky.

Side note : Has anyone seen how creepy John Anderson gets with that Lindsay Czarniak chick on a consistent basis? I mean, I would too.. but still..

I like your list except for Wilbon and Kornheiser. I am convinced Sara Walsh is a Tranny.

LOL - Her and Josina Anderson.. Who also bears a striking resemblance to Janice from the Muppett Band.

On the bottom of the barrel. Those two are the worst!!

Wilbon is the most biased excuse for a sports commentator ever. I can hardly watch him anymore.

I really like Mike & Mike but their show is the worst for doing the "after-commercial-teasers".

If you get so bent watching ESPN why did you watch the ESPY's. They do the same monologue type humor lead-in every year. If you don't lik it, don't watch it. You are only feeding their ratings and the problem.

I find myself watching more and more Golf Channel and less and less ESPN. I only tune in for desirable games, ATH, and CFB Live.

Stu has become a caricature of what he once was 15 years back. I want to throw stuff at my TV every time he says "Redonkulous." Him and Berman are unwatchable now, I can't take the act.

This isn't 20-30 years ago, times are a changing, and stations need good ratings.
