smaster
Mike Frank is the definition of a "hack writer" How this guy has been able to get paid to cover, write about, and analyse ND for all these years is befuddling to say the least. about 70% of all d1 prospects flame out or only make negligible contributions by the time they run out of eligibility. If you get a list from any state, 7 out of 10 guys are going to flame out. In the last 10 years or so, from Rhema McKnight to most recently Max Redfield, California has provided ND with good to great contributors at a rate at least on par with most other pipeline states ND recruits from. LMFAO @ Clausen & Wood's "maturity issues" being cited to back up a fallacious argument. One, Mike Frank didn't write anything about this. The point was made by a caller on PH. Two, its not really fair to use Max Redfield in your example as he hasn't seen one second of game time yet. Three, please provide lists of 4-5 star guys from other states in the past ten years and tell me again that (a) they follow your 70% rule and (b) their flop rate is comparable to the Californians. Finally, I'm not even an ISD member, but I actually have really enjoyed PH these past couple years. I thought it would go down the tubes when Coach D left, but the "Seans" are pretty good. OddThomas
Its the water in California, anyone who drinks it for long periods of time will ultimately be unsuccessful at ND.
NDhoosier
I have been HIGH on Quick and our chances for him since the cycle started----- I think we may end up with Quick/Mackenzie/Luatua --that trio would provide some offensive punch going along with rising star Brent! aloha's Add Holmes to that list as well. I think we have a good shot at getting all 4 to go alongside Brent.

The point was made by an ISD member via email or on their forum, and then followed up by Mike Frank with additional "analysis" agreeing with the point. I remember listening to that and immediately turning off the podcast and thinking "wow, how in the world is this guy employed/running a business as an ND analyst". But I digress. Rhema Mcknight, Derek Landri, Terrail Lambert, Jimmy Clausen, Taylor Dever, Dayne Crist, Cierre Wood, Troy Niklas, GA3. All d1 california prospects, in the last 10 years or so, who have made significant contributions to the program (e.g. starters, impact players, stars, etc.) during their tenure. Clausen may be the best college QB in the history of the program in terms of raw production. The point is, if you took every state: Texas, Florida, Ohio, etc. you are going to be able to point out a large handful of players that didn't make an impact, flamed out, or left the program hastily. It's simpleton thinking to assume (with only anecdotal evidence) that CA prospects are doomed at ND. Any analyst with some common sense and critical thinking skills would have pointed that out. Domer Dude
Quick would be a great compliment to the team. Hopefully he commits sooner than later because I think we will fill up at WR and TE.
