OklahomaIrish 0
I was so angry when we lost Anzalone. I was mad at Kelly because it happened right after the Philly escapade. I wanted Anzalone more then anyone else. He would have made our recruiting class totally amazing. But I'm here to tell you we will have great linebacking in 2014 with Mr. Deeb and Mr. Grace. Deeb is way better than his number #35 ranking. This kid has the mentality of Chris Zorich. He is the hardest workout warrior at Notre Dame since Chris dominated from the nose position. Don't underestimate the will to win and the will to do what ever it takes to get better. Deeb went from a common three star linebacker with questionable closing speed and change of direction to a player that reminded me of a guy named Manti Te'o. I'm not kidding!!! Now that Deeb is under Longo's care I expect another leap in ability and strength. When Deeb hits you you stop and hit the ground. He doesn't arm tackle you or drag you down. He kicks your ***! He has the speed to play the middle. He will be a leader like Manti was. We are in solid hands for the next three years with Grace and Deeb. That gives us time to recruit another couple of studs. So far I'm not seeing them in this next class, but we have time. Of course we don't get to see a lot of tape on these guys but I have tried to pay attention to Grace on the kickoff team. He's a snot knocker too!! This is our most shallow area on the entire team, but these guys can carry us just fine if they stay healthy. I don't know if we will play Deeb this year, I expect that we will since we lose Carlos and Fox after this year. We need to get him ready. Basically, I am a lot more thrilled with Deeb than I originally was. His mentality is something you don't find very often. I saw it in Zorich. Ben Hansbrough had it on the basketball team, and now Deeb. This is an under rated stud. I kid you not. FaithInIrish Forever 5,570
You said it man. These guys are Notre Dame to the core. Listen to Deeb's power hour appearance or this oldie but goodie on Jarrett Grace. Yes SIR <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/VRcbSY7RQnQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Deeb 6-10-13 http://www.irishsportsdaily.com/podcast/ scroll down one show
irishfan82 9
I'm more excited about what Smith and Deeb bring to the Irish D then a lot of the other guys brought in. IMO, Smith, Deeb, Redfield, Luke, and Bryant will be difference makers before the season is over. That is no slap to the other guys but these guys will give big depth or starting reps before the season ends.
BrianKellyWasNotTheMan 12
Deeb is a sleeper but don't see him starting anytime soon. There's a lot of sleepers in this past class like Kinlaw. 3 stars that could have easily been low 4 stars.
TheRizz 5
Not a lot of starting jobs open at the moment. After this year, lots of jobs wil be up for grabs.

The amount of guys we can lose after this year is insane, don't want to think about that.
Domer Dude 0
I'm good with our LB's. We just need depth on the inside. Very thin.

AlabamaDuck 0
Grace is going to be a star. Smith will be another. The LB Corp will be better this year even without Manti and probably even better next year.
OKCIrish99 3
I think both are going to be a good tandem for sure. Playing right after Manti Teo is going to be challenging though. The fact that Jaylon Smith and Doug Randolph came with Deeb is even better. I'm expecting big things out of the future linebackers for sure. Go Irish! The LB Corp will be better this year even without Manti and probably even better next year. A lot of people would argue with that statement after losing the most decorated linebacker of all time. I'm not one of them. When you include the outside backers with the middle men, as a group we will actually improve. Carlos and Fox actually equaled Manti's tackle total when added together. People that will factor in this year are Ben Councell, Okwara and Jaylon Smith. That is a might impressive group. I was ringside when Okwara broke an Oklahoma Sooner in half. It was a thing of beauty!!!! Don't forget, we still have Spond and Shembo, but the guys behind them are bigger, faster and more athletic. Jaylon Smith may not be that big, yet, about 230, but he will wreak havoc when given an opportunity. Yeah, losing Anzalone really hurt, but the fact is we are still trending upwards. Martini is a pretty good catch in this next class but we need to hit a homerun if we are going to build the kind of depth we have on the offensive line and running back. Let's not forget Kendall Moore. He is a fine athlete, but something is amiss. Why does he not play. Will Deeb start over him in 2014. From what I have seen, I think he will. Jaylon played RB,WR, Safety and LB in HS and maybe CB. He is going to play some where very early. He is the best athlete, IMO, that ND has recruited in the last 25 years. Or longer. Rocketsan 877
The LB Corp will be better this year even without Manti Statements like this are borderline ridiculous.
davislove 0
I see deeb and grace as another calabrese-fox combo at best. I think grace is getting the pub from the national press which don't follow ND as intimately as we do. And deeb is just the new MLB on the block so people want to assume he's the next big thing because all the previous "next big things" didn't pan out as such. I doubt either plays much. Put me in the camp that thinks spond is gonna move inside to join the fox/carlo rotation while smith takes over the dog position.
AlabamaDuck 0
Statements like this are borderline ridiculous. Borderline in your opinion only. In four years Manti has 7 INTs mostly tipped passes and all in his 4th year. The first three years his coverage wasn`t that good and never tipped a pass. Grace is faster and can cover a lot of ground. He is suppose to be able to cover but we won`t know until he proves it. I really expected to see a lot of Dick Butkus type tackles from Manti but never did. From what little that I have seen and read it appears that Grace has an attitude. It is not all about Grace, Fox and Carlo are a year older and can play inside. I think you will see Jaylon Smith inside on some plays. We will miss Manti`s Senior leadership but it wasn`t there the first three years. Overall, the LBs will be stronger.
REMND 0
Ian looking forward to watching Deeb. I see him as an over performer who gets more production than hi measurables suggest. We will know more after he starts to mix it up. I can't help comparing him to Pat Ryan. I had great hopes for Pat like I do for Deeb. Pat was just a tick too slow from what I recall.
