gmac89
He visited USC yesterday, so I guess we told him to **** off?
Big23Head
Nothing to do with USC. I think Ricochet said it well: Dawkins is a prospect with great tools but he doesn't know how to use them or even take full advantage of those raw abilities to be a great at the HS level, where many have and then fallen flat on there faces once they reach college. Dawkins can't be the main QB get out of this class and maybe not even the second one either. He's without a doubt a project prospect and would've been a nice pickup for a team that is truly set at QB for a while because while he's got elite pro level tools he has no idea how to properly use them. So the best situation for him is to find a place that will have no pressure of him playing and slowly turn this tools into abilities. Due to the QB depth chart now, ND needs a true QB, more refined and now. That is not Dawkins Edited June 11, 2013 by Big23Head
nd1baby
Recruiting high caliber QB's every year is a disaster for us; they simply will not wait their turn. 5 star, 3 star, 5 star, 3 star is my advice.

That's not a bad idea at all. Get a project like Hendrix in the off years, and Golsons/Gunners in even years. More attractive depth chart, and there's always the chance that someone comes into their own by Jr year.
golson5
Big, i think we need 2 qbs in this cycle so why not take Kizer and Dawkins? Are we taking 1 or 2?

Big23Head
Big, i think we need 2 qbs in this cycle so why not take Kizer and Dawkins? Are we taking 1 or 2? If they feel Hendrix returns then possibly 1. This is a weaker class for QBs and ND has very good standing with 3-4 QBs in 2015. Regardless I think once the staff gets a solid QB commit in this current class they will look for another late bloomer in this class if there is one. Basically it will be fluid for a while with regard to QB in the 2014 class Edited June 11, 2013 by Big23Head

Dayton_Domer
Who does ND have after this season? Rees - gone Hendrix - 5th year possible, but likely off to med school. Zaire - returns Golson - TBD So, ND has 1 returning scholarship QB next year and 1 TBD.... And (according to reports) the coaches didn't accept Dawkins' commitment....wow. I sure hope the staff knows something we don't or ND is one hit away from a walk-on taking snaps.
Ricochet
Big, i think we need 2 qbs in this cycle so why not take Kizer and Dawkins? Are we taking 1 or 2?Because Dawkins hasn't even done it at the HS level. He's been a INT machine. Everyone has bad games but his game against Crenshaw was inexcusable. He had a QB rating of 8, yes an 8. When he's had make pass he hasn't been able to and in that game he went for 0 TD's to 5 INT's.
Big23Head
I've never been convinced Dawkins wouldn't flip to USC if offered. That seems like his coveted offer.

Add Kizer to next year's roster (assuming he signs) 2 scholarship QBs and 1 TBD...if Golson returns ND should be fine, if not - need another QB in this class with Kizer. Big23Head
I think the staff waits some, maybe stays in contact with Dawkins or someone of the like until Hendrix and Golson situations are known toward the end of the season. If ND has a solid year there most likely will be someone else there if needed.
