Big23Head 2,499
Looking at announcing a 10 yr deal, home and homes and some Shamrock series in there too. Close to finalizing and would be the Michigan game replacement basically.
nd1baby 0
I assume their fans have better manners. Austin is quite a nice road trip. I concur with the exchange.

JTennant 290
Love it! I just moved down here three months ago, so this was perfect timing. I'll be sure to be at every game in Austin at the very least.

piratey 6
http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/indep/notre-dame-fighting-irish.php We already have scheduled series with Texas in 2015/2016 and again in 2019/2020. Is this on top of that?
jessemoore97 1,476
Very nice Tier 1 replacement for Michigan IMO, and obviously VERY fertile recruiting in Texas with Louisiana next door to boot. Looking forward to this series if it comes to fruition. This is a winner all around in my book.
ndomer4 532
The way Texas has been playing lately this is an easier win than the Michigan game.

jessemoore97 1,476
The way Texas has been playing lately this is an easier win than the Michigan game. Which is sad because it is a good program with great facilities and location from everything I've read. They were getting great recruits in their own back yard too. Kind of hard to explain why they've been down lately IMO. Supposedly this could be a Thanksgivingish match-up that I thought I read somewhere. That would be nice to have a team from the South come up to the Bend every so often and obviously a trip for us in warmer conditions. It will be interesting to see how it schedules out with the SC and Stanford games. Will we schedule Austin for home SC years I wonder? This will be a big game though, and I really doubt Texas will be down when we play them. They always have a top notch recruiting class and get the top players in Texas. Me and my dad were in line for the porta potty at the Michigan game and some guy with a Texas sweater snickered something about ND. My dad says Texas... they still have a football team? There were a few good laughs outta that, he didn't really have a response either.

This will be like OU hosting ND this last season, huge crowds and much anticipation on both sides. Outside of the Red River Rivalry the ND game will probably be the second best game for Texas and OU the years we play.
piratey 6
The way Texas has been playing lately this is an easier win than the Michigan game. Ehhh...LATELY...but guys... This will be Mack Browns last season. Mack Brown, outside the magic that was Vince Young, has been AWFUL as the headcoach of Texas. AWFUL. In 15 years.... He's won only TWO Big12 Titles. In a typically, weak conference... He's 6-9 against hated Oklahoma When Texas shitcans Mack, they will get their pick of any coach they want... With access to a guaranteed top 5 recruiting class every year(and not having to leave the state to recruit) and the richest and most profitable program, I see Texas as being a powerhouse again by the time they roll onto the schedule Edited June 6, 2013 by piratey
Elkhart 0
Fans of teams like Kansas State, Oklahoma, Baylor...hope and pray that Mack Brown stays at Texas forever. The Texas AD, DeLoss Dodds, is 73. If he picks the next HC at Texas, that will be good news for Longhorn opponents. Probably.

TexasDomer 1,486
While the Texas fans aren't crazy about the record the last few years, unless Mack Brown absolutely implodes, he will be here after this year, I think. Winning is important, no question, but you know what else is important? Money. And Mack makes a *ridiculous* amount of money for UT. This was from Forbes magazine's "College Football's Most Valuable Teams" "1. University of Texas Longhorns Current Value: $129 million Two-Year Change in Value: 8% Football Profit: $71 million Conference: Big 12 Head Coach: Mack Brown Texas football generated $65 million for its athletic department, $15 million more than any other school. That athletic value helped offset the fact that the Longhorns didn't make a bowl game last season." http://www.forbes.com/pictures/emdm45el/1-university-of-texas-longhorns/
echo88 74
Awesome addition. Texas is going to be ridiculously good again soon and it will bolster recruiting.... If rather have UT over Michigan any day of the week....
Scotty88 0
Texas is going to be ridiculously good again soon and it will bolster recruiting.... It's all about the HC and who's available when there's a change. UT had their guy in Muschamp but the timing wasn't right....look at Kiffen and USC (then again, how often you see a double rainbow?)
