krazyglue 0
So obviously young Mr. Golson can't play this fall for ND but what are the odds he comes back to ND? Rumors have him heading to a JC to get his education back in line (oh and maybe some reps under center). After a year of JC, that'll leave him wide open to go to another school of his choice. I'm sure the snake oil salesmen of the world will be coming out of the woodwork (Urban and Rich Rod come to mind) to get a quality player like Everett in their fold. So in the midst of extreme boredom this off season, what are the thoughts on EG making he's way back home to ND?

Everett Golson @EverettGolson5 1 Jun Nothing is for certain... I'm not sure this is really his twitter account, but its still rings true. Nothing is certain with ND football. From Teo's girlfriend to our incumbent starting QB getting tackled by a taxicab driver, nothing will surprise me anymore. I would not be shocked one bit if EG left for "greener" pastures. I'd feel a lot more comfortable if he was staying close by and enrolling at Holy Cross so BK could keep an eye on him.
AlabamaDuck 0
I believe he intends on returning at this point but maybe his odds of starting might drop IF Zaire is the real deal. Like Kiel, if he sees that his starting job has gone and feels like he can`t win it back, be might consider transferring.

SpeedsterX 751
What are the odds of Everett coming back? In my mind at this time 60-40 he does come back. I am sure he has every intention right now to come back and that is his goal. But things change and one season is a long way off so we'll just have to see how things go for him. REMND 0
I really want him back but he sure has a lot of options. It is not a given. I just hope the administration and staff works with him consistently in the next 7 months to make sure he knows they want him back. If they do not, then to protect himself he is going to have to apply to other schools where he can get in and continue his career and education. irishrb 0
I am pretty sure it's been a huge struggle for Golson academically from the get go but I expect him to come back and finish what he started...academically and athletically....
Rocketsan 877
I look at this with the same goggles I did Cierre Wood...you brought this upon yourself...could really care less if he comes back. Rather invest time and emotion into those who are here and doing it the right way - or at least smart enough not to get caught

The Four Horsemen 6
Everett does NOT have a Twitter and any info from that account should be considered for what it is, a guess. I like our chances of getting him back but not gonna go all in and say that he will 100% be back. I hope Kelly and staff keep him close and stay in contact. Rocketsan 877
Sending the starting quarterback at Notre Dame down to play at a junior college is like giving your 16 year old the keys to the Porsche and hoping it comes back to the house in one piece... VCDomer 75
Sending the starting quarterback at Notre Dame down to play at a junior college is like giving your 16 year old the keys to the Porsche and hoping it comes back to the house in one piece... Sounds like you are less than optomistic about his return (healthy or not). I am not blaming BK or his staff for this Golson outcome, but I can't help wonder if something is going on that we don't see, but observe the fall out of. Maybe this is the stuff that other programs go through from time to time. But it just feels like we can't get ahead or away from the recruiting defections, player arrests, bad pr (student deaths, fake girlfriends etc) transfers, and other issues affecting the football program. I would like there to be a long sustained period of stability....or at minmum.... No other shoes dropping before the first game in the fall. hawaiiirish 62
I am not as concerned as some of you---look at it this way---Golson was the QB of the team in the NC game and was a HUGE part of the first undefeated regular season for ND in almost 30 years. That by itself is MORE THEN the high point for most division one QBs in their entire career---very few lead undefeated season and only the ELITE ever QB teams in the NC game win or lose. From Golson's point of view this was going to be and was until a couple of weeks ago HIS TEAM. Everett did NOT have a football problem he had an ACADEMIC problem---football wise he was GOLDEN---he had a great team being built for his strengths and had a GREAT relationship with both Kelly & Martin---who both WANTED HIM to be their starting QB. Now 2013 is, unfortunately for Everett, GONE--it is toast---and it is HIS fault, and he seems to know and accept that. He also knows we will be happy to take him back as we did gary gray and Darrin walls--two great examples of players that simply came back and rebooted. So the QUESTION becomes --WHAT WILL ANOTHER SCHOOL--ANOTHER PATH OFFER ME THAT COMPARES TO THE TITLE GAME, A CUSTOM MADE OFFENSE, A WELL ESTABLISHED VERY POSITIVE FOOTBALL RELATIONSHIP WITH THE COACHES??? My guess is that there is simply NOT a better answer for Everett then coming back offers. Take vanderdupe for example---he is hedging because from his point of view we offer nearly nothing that's all that much better then UCLA & MORA---maybe since he has no relationship with our staff really , he may very well LIKE MORA BETTER and LIKE CALI better--and thinks he can get to the NFL either way. Golson has NOTHING SIMLAR GOING ON---somewhere else its a new team--new competition, new fans , new coaches , and he still has to go to school if he wants a degree from anywhere yet alone ND, plus he has to wait a year simply to try and work himself into a similar spot he walks back into. ITS A NO BRAINER TO ME! Essentially Everett has put himself in a box where the tough, patient, road of waiting and working back in , can in ONLY ONE SEMESTER restore EVERYTHING HE LOST--and running away on impulse to gain some new advantage or some new relief or some new opportunities---is WAY MORE PROBLEMATIC then returning and likely would take MUCH LONGER, IF EVER, TO GET HIM BACK TO BE QB OF A TOP TEN TEAM IN AN ELITE UNIVERSITY! So IMHO even when Everett and family look at what some other options might offer him---he CAN'T GET EVEN CLOSE to the BIG RETURNS AND IMMEDITAE GRATIFICATION that coming back to ND offers him. For me I put the odds at 80/20 at least---just too much there unlike your more normal transfer or verbal who often see's greener pastures somewhere else--for GOLSON THE GREENER PASTURES HAVE TO BE IN ND STADIUM--thats my bet. aloha's go irish! Irish_Convert 1
It's entirely possible he just can't handle the academic workload at ND, despite the resources available to him. He struggled with it as a true freshman and it's certainly possible that his struggles have continued. I know it's been said that he wants to come back but that doesn't mean he'll succeed academically if he does. 60/40 that he's back. Would it be a loss if he didn't? Of course it would but academics should remain a focal point of the football program and sometimes that standard will result in situations such as this. You live by the sword, you die by the sword. Such is ND football.
