OklahomaIrish
Of course none of us have a lot to go on, but Jarron Jones might just be a lot better than everyone is thinking. First of all he is bigger than Eddie. Eddie had a very unflattering stomach. Jarron is taller and a bit more lengthy in the arms. If they were to run a 20 yard dash I put my money squarely on Jarron. I'm sure Eddie would have won the battle of strength and technique being that he is a 5 star. Let's not forget that Jarron was a 4 star and we were thrilled to get him. He has had one full year under Longo and we know he made a leap in strength, stamina, agility and technique. I watched him some during the spring game and he looks physically very impressive. He has 4 years of eligibility. This could be our saving grace if he hits it this summer and becomes a stalwart backup this year and then starts for 3 years. C'omon Jarron. Notre Dame Nation needs you.
BlueConzelloGold
I somewhat agree with you.. (trying to look at things positively) BUT.. I just don't think you can teach Vanderdoes' quickness off of the snap.. I think it just comes naturally to him. And while he does have a gut, there have been multiple reports that he is cutting his baby fat and getting even quicker! After taking a short trip to Auburn, CA to see him play, I came away thinking that he may be the best player I have seen in person at the HS level.. But you never know! Jarron may turn out to be the better player.. That's the beauty of College football!!

The father looks at his son and say "Lets walk down there and @#$% them all". I guess the moral of the story is I want them both. whether you feel one is better then the other, it would be nice to not have to play this game where we downgrade the player who rejects ND for some reason. Well of course I want them both. I try to remain positive with all the crap going on, but the Golson thing is hard to take. Even Hawaii lost some luster. I still see a very good defense down the road with all the young studs such as Grace, Okwara, Councell, Jones, Day, Jaylon Smith, Redfield, Shumate, Russell....etc. I mean those guys are all young and we have a couple studs in Hayes and Trumbetti coming next year. Hope we can finish with a defensive bang.

Not sure how you can call someone a bust that early in their career, especially for performance in practice.

I hope they are wrong, but it happens every now and again Stop it. A bust? Hardly; however, people have said he has a ton of athletic ability but needs to turn on the intensity and learn to play meaner. Will that happen? People don't know, but for a kid that had to adjust during the first year and with four years left to play, it can happen.

lawton_irish
Let's also not forget Jarron's incredible family bloodline. Two cousins in the NFL right now, and another cousin that is arguably the baddest man on the planet right now -- Jon "Bones" Jones, UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. Domer Dude
Usually don't like these direct comparisons - putting one person up and another down. EV is a stud and would be missed. Jarron has all the potential. Both haven't seen the field.
OklahomaIrish
No way Jarron is a bust. Last article I read on him talked how he was picking up the attitude to get more aggressive. He dominated in high school on size and strength. I know we can count on Sheldon Day, now if Jarron gets with it, Rochell lives up to the hype, we will be ok. jbrown_9999
Jarron Jones has been described as a bust by many of those who have seen him play in practice... I hope they are wrong, but it happens every now and again I am hoping that "bust" translates to "underwhelming up to this point but with potential to improve greatly". Given that he has 4 more seasons to develop I am hoping that he turns out to be a solid contributor for the Irish for at least a couple of seasons.
