Well - rumor has it that after all the bad press by SBT, CW pulled the whole staff into his office at 6am and chewed them all out, and promised to black ball them if they published one more negative article. He even told the two reporters who published that article that he was not going to field any questions from them for the rest of the season. Good stuff! I am sure that it scared the staff bad enough to straighten up their act. We will see though. Thought it was great to see Charlie being proactive once again and not letting anyone steam roll him.

im glad that CW is standing up for ND. before CW said that he would defend the integrity of the football program and his players. good job charlie.

come on guys, i like the SBT. i always need something to wipe my @$$ with, when i flush my mark mays down the toilet.

Does anybody have the date of that negative article from SBT so I can look it up? Sorry, I missed that one

Clausen's glitz could usher in new age at ND

SBT archives articles after a couple of days so you may not be able to get it there. It was posted on the site I believe try the other forum. It was a 4 part article on succeeding days (different titles) so start searching from the 23rd -26th.

I'm pretty sure one or more of us cut and pasted it over in GENERAL. so it's there in entirety and not time dated. I tend to do that cause I myself save something to only find the sucker was time dated.

Haha  I completely back CW on this one, as I know you all do also, but I just can't understand why people on ESPN are crticizing him for this. How would Jason Whitlock (who made fun of CW for doing in on Rome is Burning) feel if his hometown newpaper wrote a story about how he was a fata$$ and attacked the integrity of his family.

Anyone who talks bad about Weis can shove it. Imagine if we had a coach that did this crap (along with ignoring the dozens off-field problems that have plagued his programs for a few years now...)

Scroll to the Friday, August 11 section.

Could you be referring to Coach Stoops, Indy? Everyone lauded Mr. Stoops as a hero after presumabl knowing about the Bomar situation for a year and doing nothing until the end. But, Charlie Weis deserves criticism?

You all know this by now, but merely being a part of ND football (especially when you are the head coach) puts you on a pedestal for which you don't necessarily ask. It's merely done to eventually rip the person/program down.

It is frustrating but it is also what I love about ND. It is different! I love the US versus THEM mentality. It is an American way of life.

Actually the link takes you to a story about Pete Carroll. He dressed up in full outfit like Will Ferrell from that NASCAR movie Talladega Nights and took the team out to the theater or something. Yes, he literally dressed head to toe in the Wonder Bread uniform. What a clown.

I hate USC more than anything on this planet...They might even be an al qaeda training ground for all I know, but I think what Carroll did was kinda cool.

It just seems so corny and cheerleader-ish to me...but I guess that fits his stereotype as PomPom Pete perfectly.

I'll take my no nonsense coach any day of the week.

When I see Carroll on TV I can't help but think that he is a cocky jerk, but I could be wrong. Speaking of cheerleaders, although I hate USC I must say that they have some of the hottest cheerleaders in the country :D

its the blonde hair, tan skin, tight sweaters and lack of panties under those short skirts. did i mention the tight sweaters?? YOWZA!!!!!!!!!

Oh yea, that's how I like my cheerleaders. Not dressed with the same white turtleneck undershirt no matter how hot or cold it is, jumping up and down and kissing the starting QB.

I'm telling you guys that Carroll's personality appeals to 17-18 year old kids. He really knows what he is doing. CWs personality appeals to mature 17-18 year old kids (of which there are not that many), 20-21 year old seasoned/mature college veteran players, and parents. That is why Petey Poodle has been and will continue to be a great recruiter. These young, immature kids don't know any better at that age. They aren't thinking through what a coaches influence is on their development into adulthood except for how well that coach will prepare them for the NFL.

CW will do fine in recruiting because he is a straight-shooter, he is compassionate, and has a genuine interest in the well-being of people. And that is also important to players and especially important to parents.

But, no one has a better personality to recruit than Petey Poodle. Haven't you ever had a teacher or coach (in high school or college) that came across as much as a friend as mentor/teacher. Those people always seem to be the coolest of all when you are young. They don't always turn out to be the most informative or the best role models, but, they sure are cool at the time. Petey is just a master of understanding this angle and he makes a living in the recruiting arena exploiting this tactic.

you're right on Vagas, that's why God made mothers. someone needs to keep the cool people in check.

Once we starting winning NCs again we will have no problem getting anyone we want.

The winning and location do not hurt PCs recruiting efforts.
