So who do you predict will be the first one to see the field in 2013 (aside from our not so special teams).

I'm going to make one poster very happy with my prediction.

Greg Bryant....snap number 2 or 3.....if we start on offense....if defense....max Redfield snap 3.....I exclude special teams because there will certainly be some new guys on them

Good point about ST. I will edit to exclude that.

agreed. I'm finding it hard to see a freshman starting..

Max Redfield will be in the two deep. Shumate and Redfield is our duo for the future, but Matthias Farley is a gamer and a winner who won't come off the field easily.

Vanderdoes will be in the Rotation at DL.

Jaylon will be in the nickel and dime and PUNT BLOCK He's gonna get one or two blocks this year MARK MY WORDS

on offense.. Greg Bryant is my pick to SPLIT Theo's Job with Cam McDaniel

Corey Robinson Could Play, depending on his weight(a little thin) and how Daniel Smith plays who is older with a similiar build.

Two of your favorites Oklahoma!

I think Folston should take over KICK Return so GAIII can focus on Cierre's job.

I see the freshman class as contributing depth to the defense and part time starters on offense for year one.

Robinson is so redshirting.

I have to go with Bryant assuming we go into the season injury free.

If we aren't to the point yet where we have the depth that only the EXTREMELY mega talented freshman would start, then we aren't anywhere near being the elite team we all hope for.

I would look to the dynasty that Alabama has for comparison purposes and they had 7 true freshman play in their first game last season. So I see your point about true freshman starting, but guys like tj yeldon and amari cooper made big contributions. I don't necessarily think it's an indictment of a programs standing by having true freshman playing - not anymore at least with early enrollees.

It's said that the further away from the football you get on the field, the better the chance for a true freshman to play because the position is less dependent on physical strength. So I have two picks - first guy will probably be an offensive skill position player because that's where we have the biggest needs and recruited some of the best players.

However, in terms of first player to start: Jaylon Smith. I think his skill set and versatility will allow him to step in somewhere as a starter.

For those that watched all the video of spring practice, how could Corey Robinson not play. He can make catches that nobody else can. Originally I was thinking a red zone only player, but hey, he catches the deep ball because he uses his body so well. Yep, that's the way I see it!

i think ALL the 5 stars will play---not a good percentage play to redshirt a 5 star---and likely the EEs save maybe Malik will play---there is a good reason to try and redshirt Zaire---

Likely over HALF this class will play to varying degrees with only about 10 pure redshirts---

But my MONEY will be on the 5 star GREG BRYANT to be FIRST UP & will get significant carries against TEMPLE----to be frank--given that our stable of running backs needs to be rebuilt & the first opponent temple should allow alot of playing time for everyone who needs it---I WILL BE VERY DISAPPOINTED IF BRYANTS SKILL LEVEL DOESN'T FORCE KELLY TO GET HIM REPS FROM THE GET GO AGAINST TEMPLE!!!__:grin:

I think Robinson should also get in sometime on the second half as the staff starts to build experience with players they feel they will need going forward in 2013---

I really think this depends on how they use Amir -- seems he will be some version of Theo (in terms of usage), although probably not the 2012 version. Of course, it is possible that Bryant just blows everyone away in the fall, but I see BK easing Bryant in while trying to establish the more senior backs.

I could see Little Admiral getting burn at WR, but more out of necessity and lack of numbers (accounting for the likely injuries) than forcing his way onto the field. I will take Onwualu over Robinson for most receptions by end of season. :)

Vanderdoes.

Here is my reasoning: Day was able to get significant minutes last year as a freshman, plus we lost KLM. Day was ranked the 111th best player in the 2012 class, and the 11th best DT while Eddie was #6 and #1. Day was an EE with a Spring under his belt, so I think they're about even coming in.

But, regardless, a DL with:

Nix

Tuitt

Day

Springmann

Schwenke

Vanderdoes

Jones

Hounshell

Stockton

Rochell

et al

That could be very special if they mostly stay healthy. And stay, period.

Yeah, all the 5 star guys will play. They never stay 5 years so no need to redshirt them. Also, Steve Elmer is going to play, no doubt.

Ask Cierre about that. I hope there's no irony with going to the Texans like Darius Walker.

There are a lot of viable candidates. Injury could play a role.

On offense, RB is the position so I guess Bryant or Folston.

On defense, I will guess Vanderdoes because he is just so adva ced as a DL.

I do suspect the first freshman we see play will be on special teams.
