Big23Head 2,499
He is leaving to pursue a career with medical device sales. Just a FYI to anyone that follows his twitter and for a ND guy in general. Last Day with BGI
Dr. Feelgood 0
Not sure how many hours per week he was putting in at 24/7, but he just took a really rough job. Potential for a lot of money but he may be in for a surprise. He's going to put in 60-70 hours per week, minimum. Orthopaedic sales seems to be a popular job choice for former athletes. Glad to have you! I'm a member of DD but had been gone for a while. I joined on signing day 2009 after the Teo announcement - I guess my profile got deleted after a period of inactivity. Good to be back.
ColinKSU 18
As a sports reporter myself, I thought Sapp did a tremendous job and was the best in class for ND recruiting. As a sports reporter myself, I think Sapp made the right call. Sports reporting and high school sports in general is just the worst thing *ever*. Wish he would have stayed, but it is what it is. I talked to once on the phone when contacting BGI. Super nice guy. Best of luck to him. Lou Somoygi will probably be doing something soon on this. He has been at BGI forever. Tim Prister left for II a long time ago, and now Sapp for medical sales.

Recruiting news can break at any hour, its got to be a horrible job for a family man. He was easily the best when it came to ND recruiting which isnt surprising since im pretty sure he worked in the recruiting offices of ND for a bit after his career was over. He was really adept at getting info quick. He was posting pertinent recruiting info quicker than II sometimes. He really is a pretty big loss for BGI, and a surprising one at that honestly. If you like working all your nights and weekends and being on call for stories 24/7 while making little money, then you can have my job (lol). I want Sapp's job. Covering just ND recruiting. I would do it for free if I could afford to.

His is probably the same, but with less event coverage. I guarantee he's still on call 24 hours a day. You're pretty much beholden to the schedules of the players and coaches you rely on for information. I know it seems like a cool job, but you really, really, really have to be passionate about it. Jason did a great job at it, and even *he* had to get the heck out. (And you'd probably be doing it for next to free, lol, if what I know about journalism pay is true at 247.) It'll be interesting to see who becomes BGI's next recruiting guru. Possibly, the job really does get to you with it's intense demands. Still surprised Sapp is out honestly. To be honest, I don't even know who #2 in covering ND recruiting is. Maybe the guy who works for Mike Frank?

Following college football recruiting is addicting for serious fans. I am an addict.
