Revolver 0
No playmakers, Cam Mcdaniel is our best back, poor line play, poor qb play, no sense of direction or purpose. Its year 4 now, no excuse for this.

I don't believe in him.
SDIrishFan 607
While I too was disappointed with the offense in the spring game and hoped there would at least be some "flashes", realistically, the defense SHOULD be leaps and bounds ahead of the offense at this point. Offense relies so much more on timing, consistency, continuity and repetition, that it's expected for it to not look good after 14 spring practices with several will-be starters not seeing action. Also consider that we have a VERY good defense, it was expected that the offense would struggle. All that being said, I was dissapointed in Golson's play today and like the original poster, I'm not sure I see a gamebreaking type talent on this offense. I'm hoping Amir can be that guy or one of the freshman steps up. Not time to hit the panic button yet but they've got to make GIANT strides before the end of August. Best player on offense today was TJ and Hercules
jordanj56 6
Greg Bryant is going to leapfrog all of our current backs to being either the number 1 or 2 back.. I see no reason why Corey Robinson (frosh WR) won't get playing time this year. He's the best WR we have that is capable of going up and getting a ball.. Everett had the 'deer in the headlights' look to him again .. He rushed everything, and needs to do a better job with pre-snap reads. But I expect him to grow and develop much more over the summer. Overall I wasn't impressed, but at the same time it's only spring!

Domers23 61
This is the blue and gold game! Now we are in the hendrix camp? Stop it! Golson will be great!!!!
WeaverND 0
Well a big part of what Everett brings to the table is his ability to keep plays going with his feet and the ability to run the zone read. These things are pretty tough to do with that red shirt on.
hawaiiirish 62
Don't fret VC---Golson played at UCS--Oklahoma-- vs Alabama etc--no herbivore glazes or sundry activity was obvious-- Golson had an excellent progression last year and didn't play flat after the early season----as coach reiiterated today everett had an excellent spring and a one day scrimmage format doesn't change that. Personally i saw enough from EG last season to be clear about expectations for this one. An off-day performance in a scrimmage in april in reality means little to nothing. I think when the real season opens against temple & michigan i fully expect the spring game to be a distant and useless memory. Everett played with something at stake last spring--this spring, this scrimmage , was set-up to be more then meaningless. A windy april afternoon with Watt out, no gameplan, no aggressive playcalling, made no genuine intensity possible and it looked like it. I looked forward to last years spring game because the team was an unknown , the QB battle was unsettled, a lot to focus on and the game was set up and played with that in mind. This B&G game i made no posts about and have NOT been looking forward to it---it seemed to be setting up as a bore with hopefully NO INJURIES--and damn thats just what we got & with NO INJURIES (the good part). Bottom line--draw your evaluations and expectations from last season NOT from this little scrimmage a kind of glorified practice. You get a HAWAIIRISH GUARANTEE that you will feel differently the saturday night after our first real game--the offense & the QB will be fine-- aloha's go irish! FaithInIrish Forever 5,569
I'm gonna write off that practice for the offense. Please Amir stay healthy. Golson go thru your progressions. That was happy feet. I thought he was over that. Not worried but EG needs to plant his feet and use that right arm. Teaching moment for Kelly Martin. Show him today and then show him Miami or Oklahoma game. Throw first EG! Don't put it all on yourself... Its year 4 now, no excuse for this. I can`t remember any Spring game ever that had a good offense including the Alabama game today. Really, what did you expect? The Spring game is the conclusion of Spring practice and is just a glorified practice. It wasn`t that long ago that it was closed to TV. Revolver 0
I know a lot of people will use the excuse of us having a great defense. But im not so sure that we actually have a great defense. How did it look against Alabama?
IanY77 4
Ah, the joys of teams playing themselves. If the offence does well, then the D stinks. If the D does well, then the O stinks. ND has a great D. Nix, Tuitt, Spond, Calabrese, Farley, Shumate, Jackson and Russell still play for the Irish (with some serious pieces still to come). The simplest and likeliest explanation is that the D is in a better place right now. The o-line is unsettled, the RB corps is incomplete, and the WRs are still finding themselves before a whole summer of 7 on 7 ball. ND has a great defence for two years in a row for the first time in decades. Let's enjoy it!
