From the posted article; pretty cool stuff:

Revenues from the NBC partnership have played a key role in Notre Dame’s financial aid endowment since the start of the relationship in 1991 when University officers allocated a portion of the football television contract revenue for undergraduate scholarship endowment (not athletic scholarships). To date, some 6,300 Notre Dame undergraduate students have received nearly $80 million in aid from revenue generated through the NBC contract.

The University also has committed NBC revenues to endow doctoral fellowships in its Graduate School and MBA scholarships in its Mendoza College of Business.

Sucks for Canadians. We don't get the NBC Sports Network...:(

The Blue Gold Game is NBC sports network but the rest is just plain ole NBC. You get that don't you? I do not have cable because I cancelled it years ago when I realized cable had me more than I had it. I get the games on the old fashion general broadcast antennae method.

Yes, we do, but the link mentions: "Enhanced Rights Allows for Select Games to Air on NBC Sports Network". Don't know if that's only the BG game, or if once or twice a year, they'll kick a game over to the sports network to get people to buy in. We can't even order the channel up here.

I confess I do not know what they mean by that. It isn't very clear. Your interpretation sounds reasonable though.

I was relying on the schedule at the end of the article that indicated only the Blue Gold game was on the NBC Sports Network as opposed to the general one.

Well, yes. But I at least have a flat screen with the fancier antennae. However, even the fancy antennae look like rabbit ears. Flat screens are way cool though. I just wonder if they will be as durable as the old ones. I had a 27 inch color for 25 years with no problem. I wonder if the flat screen will be anywhere near as durable. I say no since I already have a thin cloud shaped like a ribbon on the screen. I have only had it about 4 years.

I saw that. Might be full slate on NBC this year (BG game not included), then change that next year or the year after (as per Rocket's msg). I sent an email to NBCsports about that. I'll update if I get a response.

I know what you mean. I have had my Sony Triniton for 12 years. Works perfectly and have been considering getting the LCD flat. But if it aint broke....

And someday I bet they will have phones without cords and maybe even phones that play tv on them? You never know.
