OklahomaIrish
Remember how we use to worry about defensive line?? Remember last year when we were overly concerned with the secondary? Well, I'm hear to say that wide receiver concerns are a thing of the past. By this time next year nobody will disagree because 2013 is going to be a break out year. First and foremost, Golson is looking great, buying time with his feet, running when necessary, hitting the open man and generally in total command of this offense. We are literally airing it out in practice and guys are making catches all over the field. This is how I see our receiving corp. 1. DaVaris Daniels~~Most people would put TJ here, but I think DeVaris is about to explode, barring injury. He is very consistent in scrimmages and makes some spectacular catches. He has built himself in the weight room to look more and more like Floyd. He simply looks great and Golson likes throwing it to him. This looks like a thousand yard receiver to me. 2. TJ~~He looked better last year than I could ever have imagined. I think he has peaked, but he is very impressive. He also hit the weights. I talked to him two years ago and he looked like he had never lifted before. This is a solid solid receiver. 3. Niklas~~I'm including the tight ends and this is one big big target. I have not seen him drop a pass in videos. When he is open he should get the ball. It's like throwing into the ocean. 4. CJ Prosise~~This guy simply puts a star at every position. You don't want this guy loose in your secondary. The only problem so far is he has a few drops. I'm hoping this gets worked out because he truly makes us a much better football team if he is hanging onto the ball. Dang this is a good looking football team. 5. Corey Robinson~~There is a picture on Irish Illustrated of him cupping the football in his huge hand while lunging forward for the best catch of spring ball. He is catching everything thrown to him just like he did down in San Antonio with the All Stars. Corey will have all summer to lift weights and run routes in the 7 on 7 drills. His upside is ridiculous. Can't wait to see him in the red zone and in the down field routes. We are a better football team with Corey. 6. Koyack~~Hearing really good things about him. At one time he was a 5 star recruit. We have 3 solid tight ends this year all raring to go. 7. Cam McDaniel~~He not only gets open he is catching everything thrown to him and averaging about 20 yards a catch. He is looking similar to Theo Riddick. 8. Onawaulu~~Kid doesn't look like a rookie. Well built and good athlete. Coming in early gives him a chance to play. 9. GA3~~Not a natural receiver but making big strides. Not sure if he can catch the wheel route, but we are going to find out soon. 10. Welch~~Solid hands and route running. He'll catch a few this year for sure. During the fall we will add Folston and Bryant, Fuller and the kid that broke his femur (help??). These are very good athletes. We are very young but we have already developed DeVaris and TJ. I'm certain that next year I can say we have developed 4-7 players. We are becoming a BEAST.
ndomer4
Yeah before spring camp myself and many others were quite worried about receiver but now that is a thing of the past. First off I think we were all fine with Daniels and Jones who are very polished receivers. I wasn't concerned with tight end because Niklas is too athletic and monstrous not too succeed, plus he's beating out Koyack who was a five star. We're tight end U so that is never an issue. The guys who helped calm us all down were the EEs and Prosise. The top guys were never an issue but there's a good chance one or two of em go down so we can now rest assured we have the ammo to reload. We have lots of depth, someone goes down another one goes in. I like the analysis but I expect Chris Brown to be that 3rd or 4th receiver once he gets back from injury. He'll be in a battle with Prosise though who not only brings the speed but some size and strength. I'm also gonna be the first to predict Daniel Smith to play an important role this season. He'll be big in the run game and I think he can be a red zone threat even. I can't expect a Stovall like senior season because he doesn't have the natural talent he had. However I can see something inbetween what Goodman did last year and that 2005 year Stovall had.

OklahomaIrish
Thank you Die4Irish. And how could I forget Chris Brown. I would like to insert him just after Corey Robinson. Yeah, I know some people will have a problem with that, but I want Corey Robinson on my team. I don't want to have to defend him. With that said, I like Chris Brown. I think he will be much better then last year.
Irish 247
Hunter is making great progress with his broken femur and is well ahead of schedule. There is a video of him on his twitter account doing PT and he said he hopes to get cleared to play baseball in a month. Assuming there are no set back he is fully expected to be 100% by June 15th. He defiantly needs to bulk up and put some weight on. He looks like a skinny version of Ryan Broyles right now and his tapes kind of remind me of him as well. Hopefully he will produce like him for the Irish. Certainly not a OU fan but loved to watch Broyles play.
BrianKellyWasNotTheMan
2 receivers in DD and Jones could be the best in the nation tectonically we only need 2 more good receivers which there is about 5 to choose from.
Dayton_Domer
my real worry about receiver is can ND sign its usual number of receivers and one or two additional to make up the lose of Neal and Ferguson? I believe the goal was to sign 2-3 "usual" this class...add back 1 or 2 that's 3-5 WRs. This adds competition at the class level - could scare away some recruits. For years, ND has been below the 85 scholarship number...need to get back to 85...build depth and experience at all positions not just WR. just my two cents

This year, Chris Brown, Prosise and Corey Robinson should join that group so that next year at this time we have 5 guys that are battle tested and productive if not stars. Then we will have Fuller, Hunter and Onawaulu seeking to join the elite group. Fuller and Hunter are extremely gifted but need muscle. I think we can afford to redshirt them and beef them up like we did DeVaris and Brown. If we bring in three receivers in this class I think we will be just fine. We already have one and he is 6' 3''. The way Corey Robinson and Prosise are stepping up I think we will be just fine. I don't have a good feel for Onawaulu yet, just haven't seen enough of him. But at this time next year, everyone will know we are absolutely loaded.
hawaiiirish
CJ Prosise reminds me very much of Anquan Bolden--- Watching him take that golson throw for a TD he looked so much like bolden. Bolden is easy to spot on the field because he has that UNUSUAL build for a WR---he's so thick--so heavy & muscular--- As it turns out Bolden is 6/1 220---the exact measurments of prosise--- Bolden was also a guy that was switched into a WR in college to get him playing time--- Bolden was also the guy that slipped in the draft because of a 4.7 at the combine that had some not appreciate his "football speed" and the effect a strong WR with excellent ball skills can have in the secondary. Can he turn into the ND version of Anquan Bolden---well they are working him both as an inside and outside WR---he seems to be a very untapped talent---he could be very hard to handle for MANY division one defensive backs. I'm really LIKING THE CJ___ aloha's
REMND
I like the comparison to David Givens. They are the same size. They are both excellent athletes. I hope Prosise shows similar production when he gets onto the field.
OklahomaIrish
For the life of me I can't figure out who Anquan Bolden is, but I darn sure remember David Givens. I don't think any one aspect of our football team excites me more then CJ Prosise. Just please don't be dropping passes. I love how big receivers can use their bodies to protect the football from the defensive back. CJ and Corey.....WOW!!
hawaiiirish
This year Bolden was the #1 reciever for the Ravens--Flacco can thank him alot for his big paycheck he had an awesome run at WR during the playoffs and super bowl--- Before that he played opposite larry fitzgerald at arizona making maybe the best WR tandem around--- Currently he went in a controversial trade from the Ravens to Harbough and the 49ers--- Former rookie of the year---several time all pro---a beast of a reciever--- His style of play is distinguished by his SIZE & STRENGTH--at 6/1-220 he does not look like the protypical reciever--tough--strong -- great ball skills---really thickly built---Prosise looks exactly like him and may very well play like him to aloha's
