A blog on ESPN pointed out that both Brady and Stanford's Trent Edwards could be drafted in the first round. Their link:both were recruited by Willingham. Kind of like a kid finding a winning lottery ticket (which could easily become a Disney movie. Just a side thought)

i heard on the herd radio show yesterdy, when colin when interviewing oregons head coach. he asked him who was the best golfer in the pac 10 as far as coaches go. he said it used to be him until TY came into the picture. well he had 3 years of golfing every day to get that good. jackass!!

TW did NOT recruit Brady. He lucked into him while he was recruiting Ndukwe.

Good point, I'm glad you brought that up. Ndukwe had to tell TW to take a look at his QB...otherwise we would have been looking at Wolke at QB last year...a little food for thought

Well, as of this year CW has brought in Demetrius, Frazer and Clausen.

In two years.

That's pretty good too.

In my book, TW gets 0 credit for Brady. Ndukwe gets credit recruiting him, and CW gets credit for developing him. Under TW, Brady was heading towards "possibly" being picked in the 5+ round of the draft.

Also, he may have recruited the Stanford guy, but he wasn't there to ruin...I mean coach him.

Honestly though, does anyone really have any ill thoughts of Tyrone Willingham? He was a decent coach. Not much of a motivator, but then again Davie inherited the program from Lou Holtz and did he do much better?

I just think in contrast to CW Willingham looks terrible, but in actuality he was just an average coach. The problem was that he was at a university that demands more than that.

Keep in mind guys, if it wasn't for a fudged resume we could still be very much in the George O'Leary era.

That was his name right?

I don't hold a grudge against the guy but I was definitely displeased with his coaching while he was at ND. You guys are right, Quinn was already sold on ND after visiting it many times with Duke and his family while his older bro. was there. The way the guy ran our offense I could've stopped them if I was the opposing D coordinator.

In my book TW is not a decent coach and it doesn't take a comparison to CW to make him look terrible.

Do I have ill thoughts of him? It doesn't matter any longer. He is about as far away from ND as he can get, and I have CW to be thankful for.

....and yes his name is George O'Leary.

Two years ago my parents and I went out to SB to see the BC game and we stood outside the Joyce Center and waited for the QB luncheon to start...one of the stadium guards told us that if you waited out front that you could see the coach as he pulled up to the building just before the press conference. Sure enough TW pulled up in his SUV w/ his wife and walked right at us. I shook his hand and wished him luck. However, after my mom shook his hand the only thing that came out of her mouth was, "wow coach you look taller on TV" It was a bit embarassing and I wanted to crawl under a rock, but TW just laughed, made a joke, and went on his way. However I should also say that after watching ND piss away a lead over BC in the second half of the game I wanted to say a lot worse things to the guy.

Thanks to Mr Ndukwe for both Brady and Duke....hope Bluester sees this thread!

NDFan3, I think we all can agree that TW is a super nice guy. I am not sure I would go the "man of character" route that the media did, but he is nice and would make a great scout leader or Wal-Mart greeter.

Scotty, you beat me to it. Mr. Ndukwe deserves props for that too.

IrishGuy, love the Wal-Mart greeter position for TY

i totally agree. if it weren't for Ndukwe brady would probbly be at michigan. i also agree that CW gets all the credit for brady's success.

I don't think we should EVER use the words Ty Willingham and greatest in the same sentence again for the remainder of our lives.

We can say he is a good guy but the greatest anything. I think not.

broker myself, I always felt Ty was good at what he does. My problem was always simply trying to figure out exactly WHAT he does.

Now come on TW is awesome he is recruiting Chiro's boy Corbin Louks!!!

Correct Broke that was a classic statement by SJ!

Broke, you're wrong about this. Everybody knows Ty is the greatest golfer in the history of college football coaches. :winking:
