247 today shows Willis has dropped his interest in ND to 'None'. Had been 'Medium' last time I looked two days ago.

And just who us going to transfer? Heggie?

Hope not we need the depth....but I'd say there's probably a 90% chance that a player will transfer at the end of the season whether it be due to family gf grades playing time or they just don't belong at ND.....who that guy or guys may be this season I'm not sure but in MOST seasons you have 1-2 transfers

Players are now back on campus and will begin their post season meetings with the coaches to decide their future

It would be nice to discuss who may transfer but people got way to fussy last time I tried too

Who I want:

DL: Eddie Vanderdoes

DE: Torrodney Prevot

WR: Sebastian Larue

Who I believe we will end up with:

DE: Torrodney Prevot

WR: Sebastian Larue

OLB: Deon Hollins Jr.

- Either way I would end up extremely happy with the ending. I don't think that Prevot will play DE in Notre Dame's system though, I view him as a pass rush specialist that will be an OLB and can put his hand down on third downs to rush the passer. Bringing in him and Hollins Jr. would be fantastic as there is always a premium on pass rushers.

Agreed. I would be ecstatic if we ended with those 3. Prevot is 20-30 lbs lighter than Hollins, so Hollins is the obvious candidate to gain weight and play DE someday in the future.

3 guys I want most: Vanderdoes, Hollins, Prevot.

Would gladly take Ty Isaac, but I just don't see the need. Crazy stuff happens, so I'm still hoping for AQM. REALLY WANT Michael Hutchings and/or Kylie Fitts from USC. Isaac Savaiinaea I want to replace AA. Sebastian Larue is not a priority. I would take him though if we didn't have to lose certain 5th years. I continually try and see if that big kid from Illinois has spoken with ND; John Augusta-DT. After Nat. Champ. hes more important to me...all defensively lineman are.

Seemed pretty obvious to me this year that we have no plan B beyond Nix

Nix is a stud, possibly the best in the nation at his position, and we're very lucky to have him

Anyone else see someone on the roster who could second/take his spot? I don't

What about 2913 targets? Talking abut DE a lot, no one specifically talking about NG

If that shows to be a area of recruting concern going forward, does Diaco's 3-4 go the way of the dodo?

ND should be in the mix with a couple NG in 2014, one of which is from chicago. NDs DL class next year should be sick.

Don't know why people think Larue is coming here. Yes, he's visiting, but his academics aren't in line. He's a conditional offer at best at the moment.

i would be surprised if larue ended up at ND and if he did i'd be worried that he would eventually transfer because of academics. if his academica were in order and had an offical offer from ND, i would bet he'd be irish. this late in the game if his academics aren't in order yet then you can kiss him goodbye, cause he aint coming here.

exactly, the 2014 class could be stacked with Dlineman. We are in good shape with about 6 more stud Dlineman for 2014.... that 6 does not include Jay Hayes who is already committed.

As for this class, not too sure about much right now. We have one open spot in terms of scholarships if the staff plans on taking back 5 upperclassmen: Martin, Watt, Fox, Calabrese, and Slaughter.

Are we going after Kylie Fitts at all? ISD tweeted about him but it was premium. He seems like a solid fit at SDE.

i think he may have an offer but i've never heard his name come up once this whole recruiting year. imo it doesn't seem ND is going after him at all but what do i know.

For those who know this sort of thing, how does this late game recruiting go? There seem to be 6 to 8 quality kids still looking to visit ND, but 2 or 3 spots, at most, to fill. Does Kelly prioritize and tell plan B kids they have to wait until he hears from all the plan A kids, or does he just throw the offers out there and see who accepts first? I assume he has priorities and preferences as to positions and players ... it makes my head hurt. I guess this is why BK gets the big bucks?

Anyway, here's my priority list:

DL: Eddie Vanderdoes (imagine what Longo could do with this monster)

OLB: Deon Hollins Jr. (Alex, who?)

DE/OLB: Torrodney Prevot (thin, but supposedly incredibly quick edge rusher, so, let Longo have him for a bit)

WR: Devin Lauderdale (speed, baby, speed)

WR: Sebastian Larue (adds to the skill collection, could go DB)

TE: Durham Smythe (TE depth seems a little light to me, going forward)

DE: Kylie Fitts (everyone seems to rank him highly, but don't feel the ND love on this one)

CB: McKenzie Alexander (Lynch, anyone?)

i think ND would hold a spot for vanderdoes to the very end otherwise i feel ND may go ahead and say first come first served. cant really go wrong with any of those players.

Updated to show fitts will visit 1/25

Also anyone know any more about Devin Lauderdale 247 doesn't have him with any interest...

Updated to show TE Durham Smythe interest

Updated to show schools in play

And based off Cierre leaving and the assumption we will have no transfers injuries and only bring back 4 5th years (Martin watt fox Carlo) we have 2 spots remaining

Edited by yikityyakirish

I believe there are more spots open than we realize as they know who's a good bet to transfer and who might be done because of injury and whatnot.

ND is going hard after Durham Smythe now and that suggests to me at least that Alec Welch could be an injury causality and coming off knee surgery he's most like not going to get much time next season and in turn because his lack of play he's not going to be asked back for a 5th year.

This is all speculation because how hard ND is going after Smythe when months before 2013 TE was more or less dormant. So an educated guess is that he's not coming back from injury or because he wants to play and at best he's only going to get 1 more at ND whereas he would be a 2 year player if he transferred out.

Both of these guys are what we need in 2014. I would like to see us get a speed rusher in as well (ala... the DE transfer who's name we do not speak of anymore).
The speed rusher comes from the CAT position when ND is in the 3-4 and when they go to a 4 man front the CAT becomes one the DE's.

The 3-4 DE are about containment not about speed rushing hence why the man who don't speak of hurt ND as much as he helped because he was playing the position as if he was a 4-3 DE that can just get after it where as his job the to actually contain and narrow the field for the LB to rush.

If you try and understand recruiting from an outsiders perspective, you will only get a headache. We, the public, only know so much about what is actually going on and if you just try and figure that out, you should be fine, but if you try to get in the coaches head, it will be difficult. :p

I believe what you posted here is accurate and a reason why he has them all visiting at the same time. With only a few spots left, the only player who "for sure" has a committable offer is Vanderdoes. The others... it depends on the staff. Sure, all of us could start talking about how much we like Prevot over Hollins, or vise versa, or some may say they want another WR, but it all depends on the staff. They have their favorites and their "ideal finish" to the 2013 class just like we do, only difference, their opinion is what counts. :p

The only recruit you listed that I REALLY want is Eddie Vanderdoes, ELITE talent on the Dline that we will need. If we finish with Vanderdoes + someone else(s), Ill say this class is almost perfect. :)
