WTF has happened to this board? This used to be a great place to go where friends were made, football discussed, and the occasional immature sex or bathroom joke thrown out there for us to giggle at.

 

Now, all I see is a bunch of testosterone filled dick measuring and, quite frankly it isn't a pleasurable experience anymore. I have seen more juvenile hissy fits on this board in the last 7 days than the first day of kindergarden at an all girls school.

 

Lighten up people. You aren't as knowledgable nor important as you think you are.

I agree with some of this post. But I will say if you pay attention to what you are reading in these post there are some people that are in the know and can give you very good info... Making them important in my book.

There are A lot of people that think they know more than they do.

Back in 2007-2008, there were some heated, yet civil debates raging about the yet to be determined fate of Charlie Weis. Back then we had good spirited fun throwing around labels like homers and realists. Somewhere in the last year or so, it became a divisive thing to be a critical thinker - taken by some to be near treason-like to speak ill of the school, the team, the coaches, the players.

 

The open debates of the past now branch into pissing contests and dick measures. While I admit I have participated in many a heated debate, I find that there is little to no tolerance by some posters when others are critical whether the criticism is warranted or not...

I'm only critical of people when they say retarded shit.

You're always going to experience some divisiveness in any community during times of turmoil, which while muted due to a lack of information, the last few days have been. It just happens.

 

While everyone here has one common interest, there are differences of opinion that happen during times like this. There are realists, pessimists and optimists, those that think with their hearts and those that think with their heads and when uncertainty rears its head, there is bound to be some conflict.

 

In the end, we all want one thing: Success for the Fighting Irish and that's what we need to keep in mind at the end of the day.

I think the thread blows things all out of proportion---i have been reading the board and have found the hostility & namecalling QUITE COMFORTING__

 

I mean come on--it was all essentially flowing from one controversial thread from a poster with an up & down history---that simply got all mixed up with DISPLACED HOSTILITY & the highly understandable stess & anxt some posters were feeling ,after our SHINING MOMENT--20 YEARS IN THE MAKING--HAD TURNED TO DROSS & SHOCK ,THREATENING TO TAKE OUR GLOWING FUTURE WITH IT!

 

I mean come'on--for the true FANATICS on this board --and i say that with affection---this week was their worst nightmare coming true.

 

And many reacted with perhaps less maturity & decorum then we would expect from the gentleman & women of DD--

 

We won't be going through something this bad , hopefully , for quite awhile , and more or less there was little harm done--just a boatload of stress.

 

I chose not to participate in the back & forth---but it wasn't because of maturity---it was more a result of DRAMA FATIQUE that kept me away from throwing a few sharp jabs myself----at someone--anyone would have done--

 

DD will recover fine & return to the normal banter without any hard feelings---we just need a little time ---

Those of us who have worked with children with special needs, have friends with autistic children and/or genuinely find the word as ugly as any racial slur, homophobic label or religious bigotry.

 

If your vocabulary is too limited, spend more time reading books and less time babbling uneducated hate and misunderstanding.

I think emotions get heated after a tough loss, and that mixed with the massive amounts of alcohol imbibed by our fanbase lead to some pretty stupid things said by many.

 

That said, this place is like a safe haven compared to some sites
