Off seasons here officially (we were sidetracked by some chaos) and ill start the first of many threads that are here to waste our time til signing day......who's your favorite football player of all time college or pro ND related or not.....

 

After just watching tony Gonzalez get his first playoff win I have to say that he is mine...so happy for him and hope they go on to win the Super Bowl......this is his last season and has changed the TE position forever....don't think we would've seen an Eifert or Rudolph without him paving the way.....

Walter Payton. I remember getting a pair of his KangaROOS when I was 8 years old and thinkning I was the fastest kid alive!

We should expand it to favorite PRO, favorite COLLEGE PLAYER, and FAVORITE IRISH player. It may be the same for all three, but....

Joe Montana was my favorite pro ever and Rocket is both my fave college and Irish player.

College - AJ Moye - can't root against my Irish, EVER! So I go IU basketball.

ND - Zorich, Reggie Brooks, Lee Becton, Michael Stonebreaker(his name was awesome!)

Pro- Walter Payton. I saw him speak at Notre Dame and met him afterwards. It was probably about 10 months before he died. An amazing player and human being. I found out later that he was there trying to convince ND to let Jarrett Payton into ND despite his academics. ND obviously didn't do it.

 

College- Tie between Rocket Ismail and Chris Zorich. I love some of the guys on this team but it will be hard to overtake childhood idols.

I've never really watched much of the NFL, so I don't think I have a favorite from there. but for college/Notre Dame it's an easy answer. Raghib "Rocket" Ismail. he was the first player I watched as a kid from ND and got me started in loving ND. being from 2-3 hours from Toronto I even went to see him play a game in Toronto when he went to the CFL. even thought I didn't like the CFL and never watched a gamer period before he went there.

I'm pretty young so Te'o and Brian Smith are my two choices. Smith was a guy who just really seemed to fall in love with ND, and I'll always respect him for that.

 

I've never had a favorite team in the pro's so I can't really say. Brian Dawkins always seemed like a pretty awesome guy, though, as does Peyton Manning.
