Throughout this process, everyone has been saying BK has asked for additional resources or changes within the program to be able to compete with teams such as Bama. Anyone have an idea on what those could be? Obviously higher pay for himself and his assistants, but what else do you think he wants changed within the program?

I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with our speed at safety yet....I'd see our DBS being slower than the elite teams...our offense is nearly there.....our front seven is nearly there...our DBs our nearly there......we're very close to being a perennial top 5 team.....but not quite there yet

Are you referring to raw athletic talent or the kinda speed that comes from reacting and not thinking to certain routes and plays?

I guess you're right...I've never played DB so I'm not sure what proper technique should be but I just compared our DBS to LSUs ( who has consistent flow of DBS to the draft) and they do break on the ball better....but they are usually in a much better position to break on the ball...I guess I'm talking about superior athletic talent like Redfield but I guess it probably is expecting too much to have a 2 5* corners and 2 5* safeties lol

I think we need to put all of our guys out on the Amish farms bailing hay this summer. They'll come back in good shape and be a heck of a lot stronger.

We are thinking alike. I had LSU in mind when I asked you the question. Also, I'm with you.. I don't know a whole lot of specifics about the techniques or even the X's and O's.

Yes LSU's DBS are usually in much better position to break on the ball than our DBs are.

Our below average secondary play could be a function of our overall defensive scheme. It's not a secret that our no crease 2 gap defensive scheme is not particularly effective in pass rush without sending extra bodies after the QB.

I do know the basics..if you get can pressure with 5 guys up front, you have 6 people to play coverage in whichever way coaches see fit. We don't get much of a pass rush with our current playcalling and alignments.

I'm not trying to make excuses and I'm sure our coaching staff is trying to figure out how to be a better defense.. I'm just saying the fact that our DBs have been exposed this year could be from

Scheme, Playcalling, Lack of experience, Athletic ability, or something else..

Too much going on in the modern college football defense for me to tell..

I for one HOPE for a big screen put in the stadium as it really sucks on game day not being able to see a replay. Personally, I love the atmosphere but probably and done with home games until some upgrades make it a nicer in game experience. Also, adding a screen would not hurt the tradition of the stadium nor would some nice luxury boxes up top.

I have it on good authority that he just wanted a vending machine in the coaches lounge.

LOL. Well played sir.

I'm guessing Coach Kelly is looking for a written agreement that includes a strategy of continual reinvestment into not only the stadium, but the Gug and all of its resources, the practice field, travel, recruiting, and the purchase of new technology used for the medicals staff/training/communication...

There may be some contrary opinions to the safety of field turf. Not to mention the advantage we have in controlling the length of the grass for some opponents (most notably USC)

Can you explain the grass logic to me? If you grow out the grass to slow down the faster opponent, wouldn't it also slow down the slower team too? It isn't like ND practices within the stadium to get used to it. I'm sure I'm missing something.

I like those drawings too. Construction like that would take some time to pull off.

Personally, I don't care what Bk wants. I am just happy he is still the head coach.

I think you forgot who our old coach was:

There's probably a Golden Coral and two KFCs in the Coaches Lounge from the Weis era.

North-South vs East-West

Simple vs complicated routes

Cut backs vs power running

Ie ND vs Stanford at the Mudhole 2011

Hahahaha! Excellent point. I'm going to have to re-evaluate my sources.

I know, sometimes the Weis era seems like a bad dream...soft teams...3-9 season...

It is more about style. I team like oregon relies on speed whereas a team like Wisc. tends to rely on strength. It would impact both teams the same but it could impact the styles the teams play more.
