I admit I jumped off the ledge or at least contemplated it. When I saw the ticker go across the bottom of the screen that Kelly was interviewing with the Eagles I went ballistic. I wanted to make a move and move quickly. I didn't want to lose our momentum. I didn't want to lose any recruits and I wanted to get Vanderdoes, Prevot, etc...... I didn't trust Kelly anymore. I wanted him gone.

I have reconsidered after reading Kelly's statement. He is the man that brought us back. He is the guy filling the recruiting cupboard. He is the reason we were 12 and 0. I trust him to continue this movement. I wish he didn't have any interest in the NFL, but he is our captain. He is the man. I am back on board and I hope all of you join me. We don't need to be a divided house.

Just watched a u-tube of Chocolate Irish singing the 'catch a grenade for you' song while eating a bannana. Sorry I don't know how to post that link, but it sounds like he was really hurt. The song talks about all that we would do for you (Kelly), take all this pain, but you won't do the same. So sad this had to happen to our boys. It had to be an emotional hurricane.

People don't like it when you say stuff like that...8-)

Malik Zaire said that he had talked to the coaches and they told him there was nothing to worry about. I wish I could have talked to the coaches and heard a calm soothing voice to tell me all was ok. I just saw this monster recruiting class about to come on board and Anzalone already gone and I was really concerned.

Of course, some people just love too much. Very easy where ND is concerned.

I'm 50/50 with his decision. I'm glad he is coming back for next season BUT I think we will be going through this all over again at the end of next season.

Part of me would have rather liked to see Kelly leave, ND hire someone who is 100% ND and build for the future.

Who wasn't? If u weren't, grow up, unless you've never been with him. Otherwise, i'm glad u showed ur true colors as a summer soldier and sunshine patriot. If u hate him, hate him. If u don't, don't but be consistent and stick to ur convictions instead of being a waffling, b****.

as 2 lakes twitter thread from the WSJ states......kelly is a rent a coach........i don't see him at ND too long.......

What were those words of the late Rodney King?

It is a fact that the way this came down was very unusual---a day after the title game--the biggest ND game in 20-25 years--we get blown away in a totally ATYPICAL effort irrespective of the competition. Then the coach disappears like elvis with reports putting him in ireland--in the bahamas---in key largo golfing--i mean it was ridiculous.

Clearly genuine interest from kelly for NFL as he states--( like to hear the contract makeup)---Respectable sources reporting a lot on incomplete yet grain of truth stuff about potential deals---

I THINK ITS REASONABLE TO FORGIVE EVERYONE AT DD FOR WHATEVER WAY THEY COPED WITH WHAT WAS ONE OF THE MOST UNUSUAL WEEKS I CAN REMEMBER INVOLVING ND FOOTBLALL----

I saw alot of fighting in the group---hey misplaced hostility & stress will do that

I saw alot of claims that were negative --alot that were positive --and just enough evidence to make every case plausible..,,THAT MY FRIENDS IS A RECIPE FOR DISCOMFORT__:grin:

Nobody is better then anybody in this mess at least--in other area's i am convinced i am superior---;)---its was a strange situation with more MYSTERY & SECRECY & MISTAKEN REPORTING then you can find with most cases similar to this.

I would like to see if the contract gives us any assurance this isn't an annual event--i hate to think this is a chronic problem still after swarbrick and kelly made some deal.

Lets hope we get stability---we get that top 3 recruiting class despite anzalone--there were alot of guys interested before this all transpired---

and lets CERTAINLY NOT HOLD EACH OTHER RESPONSIBLE FOR THE BOARDS STRUGGLES IN THE FACE OF THESE TRYING DEVELOPMENTS----

It was'nt our fault that we reacted badly--it was a bad game and VERY BAD day after---if that doesn't upset the applecart nothing will.

Likely this was nobody's fault--just business--upfront business--done in a tough way for the fan base to cope well.

15 FOOT WAVES BREAKING AGAINST THE COAST__I'M GOING FOR A WALK BY THE OCEAN AND BE HAPPY FOR NSD/2013/KELLY/AND ANOTHER FUN YEAR AHEAD!!!===8-)

aloha's stay frosty folks--go irish!

i was never off, he needs to do what he thinks is best, thats life. i was still going to be an irish fan, with or without him. i'm glad hes back for both him and ND. i think they are agood fit

GO IRISH!!

Never jumped off - it's why I stayed out of the hysteria we've seen the last couple days here.

All I've learned in this process is that his ambition goes beyond the college ranks, and he isn't intimidated by taking the jump. I never thought he'd stay here forever - if anything, I appreciate what he's done for our program even more, and value the time he has left at this university.

Disappointed by the timing? Sure. A little upset that this might have had a hand in losing Anzalone? Yes. All in all, does it make me believe any less in his ability to keep the ball rolling in the right direction for Notre Dame? Nope.

As long as he keeps moving this thing forward and taking us away from negative nostalgia and towards what it takes to compete for BCS births, I'm happy. It's not like he's recruiting thugs, and it's not like he isn't graduating kids, and it's not like he's having a negative impact on kid's lives. His decision making has helped Michael Floyd correct the problem. The locker room culture he fostered helped a kid like Manti Te'o get through a very tough time in his life. We wouldn't be this upset if we weren't selfish in wanting him to stick around.

I can't say I was bummed out when he was flirting with the Eagles. I think it's because, in the end, Notre Dame will continue to play football. Doesn't matter who the coach is. Sure BK did a heck of a job putting the Irish back in the national picture, but after watching Alabama dismantle the Irish, how much coaching is going to push us over the top?

I'm glad CBK is sticking around because he's a good coach, and because the continuity it nice. In reality, Notre Dame needs to take a hard look at the desire for a national championship and adjust fire accordingly. Allowing JC transfers and perhaps modernizing the stadium will help? I think BK has the ability to bend Swarbrick's ear on these matters. Let's see what happens. At any rate, I'm onboard.

What is with all this 100% ND crap. This isnt the 50's anymore College football isnt the top of the food chain. Yes ND is very high on the ladder but the NFL is now the top of the food chain. The only college coaches that are happy with being in college and going no higher is coaches that have already tried it and got there butt's handed to them. A.K.A Nick Saban you go coach you never until you try.

People need to understand that Kelly used the same strategic approach to get what he need to build a team in the 21st century as he uses to get the most out his player. He needs to keep a great staff - the best. He needs great facilities - the best. No compromises.

Recruits now know he is demanding the same support out of the university as the does out of the players. This isn't the past - the glory days. This is today. The glory days are now.

I will always bleed Blue and Gold!

I was never off board with Kelly. Even if he left, I would have been disappointed but I wouldn't have hated him for it. It's his livelihood. He brought ND back and I think we are here to stay for a while. That said, I never thought for a second that he would be gone.
