At the end of a long day reading a lot of garbage on here, I have two thoughts:

1) there are a lot of nancies on this board

2) Kelly screwed up huge - he needs to fix it (if he even can) or fu(k off

IMO he is as good as gone.

I am not sure why everyone is so sure the Eagles job is his to have. The Eagles plan to interview 10 coaches and may not be done until the playoffs are over. Kelly will need to rectify this in the next day or two, I think he stays, albeit with a higher salary for him and his staff.

Yea....im actually interested in who nd could hire now that they have a solid foundation for a team

I've realized how easy some of the old timers forget about the 15 year period where our program was the laughing stock of college football and they seem to think we can just wave a magic wand and replace coach.

Best thread all week. Love the "next man in comment".

Need our coach to man up and be an RKG.

I agree 100%. I'm a Bears fan and Kelly's name has come up for that position as well. My honest opinion is that I don't want him for that job. Not only because I want him to stay at Notre Dame, but because I think it's premature. That's a really hard jump to make and Kelly has zero NFL experience. That is a huuuge check mark in the negatives column. How many good current NFL head coaches made that leap? I think he'd be crazy to leave ND and I think the Eagles would be stupid to hire him.

24 hours of radio silence from both the school and BK is also pissing me off. They better say something tomorrow...

Rocket, completely agree with you. I'm ready for BK to just F off. This has been a joke after the show he put on Monday night. Promote Martin and call it a day. Let Kelly hope the Eagles hire him, otherwise he can sit out a year.

if Kelly leaves, it's not as easy as just replacing him with another new coach and having everything be okay. this isn't the pros were the players are there regardless. incoming recruits get tied in with the coach. if the coach(Kelly) leaves it's not a stretch to have multiple recruits decide to decommit. I would hope they don't decommitt, and decide to come to ND regardless of who is coaching. this late in the game losing recruits could HURT big. it's not like there is much time to just replace one or more recruits with the same level of talent and have everything be okay.

I'm pretty sure he is not being considered for the Bears job. In fact, I think there is something out there in the CHI Trib (just didn't look for it) to that effect too. They are looking for an offensive-minded coach. And no, I'm not putting BK in that category despite his numbers at Cincy. They want someone with a profile like Arians or McCoy if they can't land a bigger fish like Cowher or Gruden.

Bk has done a terrific job coaching and recruiting "but", I am growing weary of his antics. He says on National TV with recruits watching at halftime that for ND to win Alabama would need to stay in the locker room. It's one thing to think that. It's entirely another thing to say it on that stage. That was an embarrassment! Now he interviews with the Eagles? He couldn't prepare for a National Champoionship. Why the hell would he think he could prepare players to win a Super Bowl?

I have been a fan for decades and I will continue regardless of who our coach is. I have a loyalty to the Irish that BK obviously does not.

If he wants the NFL, let him have it. When he is looking for a new job after he is fire within 5 years we can all laugh and tell him to p#*s off!

Yes I know that there is hardly any chance of him going to the Bears but my point was that his name came up as a possible replacement for Lovie. I am just trying to say that I don't think he is a viable NFL head coaching option at this stage in the game.

I see your point, and you're right that his name did come up. I'm sure another part of the Eagle's opportunity is he knows he needs to go through the process a few times to (1) keep his name out there and (2) get into the game for the NFL interview process.

I think this is basically true, but I also think ND has too proud a tradition to let some parvenu from Cincinnati hold it hostage publicly for a bigger contract. Swarbrick has stuck his neck out publicly for Kelly -- saying he's on the coolest seat in the country and defending him after the humiliating loss on Monday. And this is the thanks he gets?

Kelly is the moron. All he had to do was continue to build this program and the money would have taken care of itself. An extra million or two per year is not going to change his lifestyle immediately anyway. The timing of this demonstrates a self-centered attitude and a lack of true love/passion for ND and the kids, both on the roster and committed for next year. He has lost significant credibily. Not sure anyone will believe anything he has to say going forward. If you disagree with my two cents, fine. We all have our opinions but just ask yourself if Lou or Ara would ever have pulled this BS...

I always liked parvenu as an insult. The problem is this parvenu is a damn good coach. If good coaches working within the inherent obstacles ND has were easy to find, we would not have gone through Bitter Bob, Willingham, and Weis.

I don't like how this is going, but having 22 coaches make more than Kelly isn't going to work. Todd Graham and Butch Jones make more.
