Ty Isaac is a five star back. Was he not rated #1 on at least one service?? I have no problem with 6' 3'', in fact, I like it. Tell the BellDozer at Oklahoma he is too tall to run with the ball. How tall is that quarterback for San Francisco that had played for Nevada?? How tall is Ohio State's quarterback?? How tall is Vince Young?? I want this guy. Especially with Folston wavering.

Hmm but you just named a bunch of QBs... I don't see what you're getting at. Especially with Bell- he barely even plays. It's a RB discussion.

Yes Isaac could be effective at 6'3 but if he's always banged in HS, his size and durability is a massive concern at the next level.

Bell carried the ball 60 times for Oklahoma, almost exclusively in the red zone. Kappernick just rushed for 179 yards in a play off game. Ohio States' quarterback is a better runner than passer, same with Vince Young. Just saying some big guys have incredible running skills.

Don't know if Isaac is fragile, but I bet Longo can make him strong, durable and powerful.

Marcus Dupree was thought to be the best running back of all time. I watched him in practice numerous times. He was 6' 3''.

When I watched Ty Isaacs film it was one of the most dominating videos I've ever seen. The kid is a runningback and that is why he's rated so high, he's not high because of his linebacking skills. I agree with Oklahoma, Folston waivering or not I'd take this guy because he's better than Bryant and Folston. Don't believe me watch all of their films and then decide.

I'd also love to see what Bryant and Folston would do to Isaac's competition.

I'm not saying he isn't an elite RB prospect. I'm saying he isn't built like one, has durability issues, and as a pure RB, I wouldn't prefer him over Bryant or Folston.

I wonder how these guys overcame their height to make it as running backs.

Well I'd give him time, Longo can make the kid a beast plus lets remember he's only 18 he's got lots of time to fill out. Like others said height will not be a factor whatsoever but injuries at that position always seem to be a concern. If he hasn't had a very serious injury it's alright but sometimes guys hurt their knee and never play the same. However I wouldn't say Bryant is far behind him in my view, i see both as elite top ten backs. Folston though is a notch behind both but still an elite back.

I'm gonna guess these guys didn't spend half their HS hurt.

Should I make a list of great RBs under 6'2?

The point isn't that it's impossible. The point is I'm happy with our guys right now.

big tall RBs are prone to injury and usually dont last long. Those you just listed are rare exceptions to the rule. There is the reason why Derrick Henry (Alabama commit) is listed as an athlete and Bama is unsure of where they will put him. Tall RBs usually not a good thing. You named 4 tall RBs out of thousands at the NFL level. The odds are not very good for Ty Isaac at the RB position.

The point is that it was said that Isaac was "too big". If the issue is that he is injury prone, say that. Don't say that he's too big. That makes no sense.

The 4 rb's I mentioned are 4 of the best of all time. If Isaac was an ND commit I guarantee people wouldn't be complaining about his size. Again, if he's injury prone, it's not because he's 6'3". That doesn't make any sense. Oh, and Marcus Allen was 6'2" as well.

You should only list great rb's under 6'2" if I said that rb's under that height are too small....which I didn't

Steven Jackson? You're kidding right? And Ty Isaac will never be built like sjax.

And yes, tall running backs break down. Ask any scout. Ask anyone who has played football which guy you'd rather tackle. A slightly built tall dude or shorter tank. It's physics. If you want to cite some of the biggest physical freaks in history, then I assume you think Isaac is in that class. And if he isn't he better be a tough SOB and by all accounts he might not be.

I'd rather Folston/Bryant that's all. I don't think Isaac stays at RB regardless, so I'd love to have him in our class.... As long as we keep who we have.

And I never thought KLM would play at 300 lbs either, or that Schwenke would show up with about 60 more pounds than his 215 lbs HS credentials pointed to as a freshman, or any number of things.

I suppose it isn't all that important to point out. In general, I'm not nuts about tall RB prospects either. Just saying that guesstimates about future playing weight are not something easily projected, especially when comparing a kid who hasn't graduated from HS yet to a guy who has been in the league for a decade, and gotten his strength and conditioning down to a science. Especially as sports science continues to evolve, I wouldn't doubt a lot of things regarding strength training and adding on weight.
