I seriously doubt this really had anything to do with Kelly. Auburn has lost very few recruits and their coach was fired. Kelly "talks" with the NFL and this kid bolts? C'mon. Good riddance.

Kelly doesn't "owe" nd any more of his time of he doesn't want to....if he wants to be an NFL coach this is his opportunity....it sucks that the timing is shortly before EEs begin.....sure it sucks that it is so close to signing day.....sure it sucks it is after the first season he did a great job......but what if you were Anzalone showed up to ND and went to the football office and heard BK wasn't the coach anymore

 

He may have had the wrong timing for you....but this would happen inevitably and I'm glad we have the chance to bandage the wounds....and I'm glad our EEs don't have to waste their time because of him...luckily "ND IS A MAGICAL PLACE" and people can often look past who the coach is

He's a great coach and there is interest in him - which is to be expected. He sat down for an interview, as is his right.

 

It got reported, which was going to happen.

 

He'll either take the job or not.

 

We'll either have our current coach, or be looking for another one.

 

This is how things work.

 

In the meantime, everyone will live to see another day.

 

If a kid or two uses this as an excuse to de-committ, then they probably weren't 100-percent sold on Notre Dame to begin with.

 

You're agitated because Notre Dame is a personal passion for you and all you want is 100 percent stability in your passion, for every single thing and person to adhere in order to insure that.

 

But that is a fantasy, life doesn't work that way especially when the head coach at the most popular college in the country turns a morbid program around in short order.

My final two cents and then I'll shut up! First, I apologize if I've upset anyone...not my intent! I'm just so frickin mad I could scream! You don't get this frickin close to building "The Dream" and then piss it all away! Even with the embarrassing loss on Monday I was soooo psyched for this program! Monster class coming in...talent returning (Chocolate, Martin, Golson, etc.). For the first fricking time in YEARS...everything was falling in to place. Hey, I know...I'll interview for a shit nfl job...whether he really wants it or is just bargaining...f'ing brilliant!

If he does it before the game, it's a distraction.

 

If he does it after signing day, he has no soul and he sold out a bunch of high school kids.

 

THIS IS THE ONLY TIME TO DO IT.

Losing Anzalone isn't going to cost us a Top 5 recruiting class this year. And without him, it still is the best class we've signed in 20 years. I'll get nervous if more guys jump ship; until then, AA was the flakiest of the entire Mob, and it's not surprising he changed his mind.

 

Additionally, indications from people who would know this stuff are that Anzalone flipped to Florida before the national championship game. So Kelly interviewing had nothing to do with this.
