A lot of us are going back and forth over what we'd like to see happen. Just curious: what do you all think is actually going to happen?

I initially thought this was a ploy to reach a higher salary, but then I read that Swarbrick already said an extension and raise were on the table. Then I started watching Twitter, thinking about BK's resume. My take: if the Eagles offer him, I think Kelly takes their job. The question in my mind is whether they make him an offer.

He stays but we lose an assistant due to it, ie maube Martin or Diaco, most probably Diaco

Got a feeling those two don't see eye to eye as much as before

I think he comes back for next year and leaves after the season ends.

Doesn't make sense if he doing this for an extension

However, i believe said extension will push one of our hungry lions out, probably at end of next year

Two things going in favor of BK staying---

First he is clearly underpaid---i hadn't realized how many coaches were making more dough. So if he had a strong top flight contract then you say he simply wants the NFL--but since he is way undervalued then making a deal and using the NFL as so many do makes alot of sense.

Second---The eagles are in no rush and will continue to interview several other candidates--there is a strong chance that THEY decide not to go the college coach direction.

My best guess-- weighing all the factors---ND MAKES A BIG DEAL!

7 year deal----30 million dollars---thats 4.14 million per---that kind of payday coupled with 7 years of job security is as good as anything philly or any NFL team can do!

He gets an extension and a raise and still leaves within 2 years. But, I wouldn't be suprised if he was done now. This thing is gaining momentum. If he had an offer already and is using this as a bargaining chip, I think he under estimated the fan reaction and Jack's resolve. I would bet my left sack that Jack already had a short list or plan in motion in response to BK leaving. He is no fool and BK's history and background is well known.

Also, I wouldn't be suprised that if there is an extension offered at 4 years or more that the language of the deal will protect ND from an early depart. Buy out clause for sure.

I like your thinking, but my guess is 4 years at 17.5. After the CW debacle... nothing more than 5 years for sure with language to extend another 2.

I think that if Philly offers the job he takes it. I also think it is up to Sawbrick to get this handled asap. There are phones and fax machines in this day and age. There are cell phones and I have been told Brian is on vacation but not out of the country. I had hoped we get an announcement today that he had signed for a raise and some other perks and was staying. The longer this hangs on as a uncertain situation the worse it has the potential to become. I think Martin should get the job if BK leaves as he has head coaching experience. I do not think this is the time of the year to begin long coaching searches.

I agree with all of this: the longer this draws on w/out comment from BK, the dimmer the chances of his staying here.

The fact that nobody seems to publicly know what's going on makes me concerned. We've lost one recruit (although he has been all over the place so far) without any protestation from anyone from BK on down. I can understand entertaining the idea as a way to cultivate a better deal, but if Kelly's willing to sacrifice recruits, maybe his mind's made up already.

The fact that we looked so unprepared on Monday combined with the last couple days makes me think that this has been diverting Kelly's attention for a while. I honestly have no idea how this will turn out.

Ever since year 1, I've had diminishing expectations that this would blow up in his face.. I'd say at year three it was down to 15-20%.

I'll predict that he ends up coming back with his tail in between his legs and that permeates through the program. We land in a downward spiral, BK leaves us for another opportunity at just the right time, and we'll be fucked while we look for another coach after next year or two.

Since he's Catholic, why doesn't the school just get this over with and offer Saban a sainthood within the Catholic Church, 10 million a year, a solid gold Porsche 911, and convert the golden dome administration building in to a Condo for St. Saban and his wife...for life.

St. Saban doesn't sound half bad.

You're a bigot, sir.

I'm Catholic, so I'm allowed.

When an opportunity calls - it is okay to listen. His heart is with the kids but he is from out east. What is they offer him the most of any NFL coach - always pays to listen.

ND will offer more with incentives. He will stay. He is still missing his championship ring.

Anzalone - pansalone. I think he has been thinking about leaving for a while and is why we have been interested in so many linebackers.

Kelly will be back.

We will be back.

Anzalone, f off and good riddance. Same to your dad too.

I feel the need to say that this looks really bad without the backstory:

Definitely need to throw this in there:

Thats not even the backstory lol. Why are yal so sensitive?

Not sure why Anzalone takes heat for changing plans if you guys are willing to excuse BK. He is actually under contract and making millions; Anzalone is 18 yrs old and making sure that he is one day in a position to be as successful as a guy like BK. Sure, some will say Anzalone was just looking for an excuse to go to Florida, but who is to say Kelly wasn't using ND as a stepping stone to the NFL as soon as the opportunity arose?

Every hour that goes by with no word from Kelly or the University tells me that Kelly is done and Jack is looking for our next coach.

Or Brian Kelly is making Jack sweat...but yes, Jack is getting his house in order, and contacting candidates like Tony Dungy to potentially take the job.

This is how the game works people, don't hate the player, hate the game
