Title says it all.....

No. Unless this becomes a yearly "thing" can't blame a guy who has 28 other coaches including Mike London of Virginia, Larry Fedora of UNC, Paul Johnson of Georgia Tech, Todd Graham of Arizona State and even Charlie Weis at Kansas, all making more money than him. Brian Kelly needs to get paid like a top tier coach.

Won't lose me. Football is a business. Kelly doesn't owe ND anything. If he stays I support him. If he leaves I still support him and wish him the best.

Wrap up the class and all is forgiven

BK's sword of Damocles is not having his team prepared/ up for certain games

Happned last year, and this year

AND of course at the BCS as well ( remindedme of USC 2011)

Would he have really been in that middle tier had he not pulled this thing? The last two seasons he has 8 wins as his best season and he still got a raise and an extension.

if he looses anyone from this class i'll be pissed and loose a little respect for BK. their are better ways to go about getting a pay raise.

You can't blame Kelly for fighting for his best interests, but this was the wrong way to go about it. I agree with others that have said it should have been kept more private. Letting this go public will be nothing but negative for ND. This is the most important time in recruiting and now recruits don't even know who will be coaching next year. Kelly really screwed up here, and every ND fan has a right to be upset. Not only did he just get embarassed in front of the whole country, now he has created the impression of coaching instability. I don't know that he could have hurt ND recruiting more in a week than he has this week.

Well, I can understand how Michigan wants Michigan men. Be real nice to have a reliable ND man - who can win though. Not easy to find I guess.

But Eagles have to be nuts after that humiliating performance. Now I'm wondering if BK blew off the proper prep because his mind was elsewhere.

What a confused mess. Swarbrick can't be happy, fans going nuts, recruits nervous.

Happened in 2010 too, that Navy game was brutal.

Absolutely - wouldn't matter now if he 3-peated as National Champions with the Irish, he would be widely reviled by ND fans for having the audacity to exercise his democratic right in considering a change in employment. It's a no-brainer.:ranger:

I dont think so....at least not in the long term if he keeps winning here.

Now if this mess happens, he loses a recruit or 2 and the team goes 8-4 next year, that might be a different story.

It's definitely disappointing to me, but I think by the end, all will be good. Just don't want there to be any recruiting casualties, that's all I ask.

For the most part, I don't think so, but it'll be more of a guarded approach from the fans rather than totally wrapping their arms around him...simply cuz we'll always be wondering what he may be up to next or who he may be talking to. You know how our lot thinks...we've got such a special place, how could anyone want to leave here voluntarily?

What's surprised me in all this has been Swarbrick. All last year, he's shown himself to know exactly what's going on, and to have a plan. To have his finger on the football pulse, if you will. See: Conference Realignment

The fact that we haven't heard anything from him shows that this may have blindsided him. How can he not know what his own coaching staff wants? If he knew this was going on, I expect that we'd have heard about a raise/extension by this point already.

Don't get me wrong: I think Kelly's a premier coach and I think he has a great staff and I think he's done wonderful things for ND. I think he has a strong argument for a raise, and he has every right to fight for a raise.

But on a personal level, I think the guy is a self-centered a-hole if these reports are true. Because if they are, he absolutely blindsided his staff, his players, and his recruits in a very public fashion. This was shameless.

i totally agree. just a bad PR move imo. first in '10 with how the tulsa game ended, going for the TD rather than the game winning FG, 2nd in '11 when he publicly called out the players he got handed down from CW saying they're not as good as my guys then what he said going into halftime of the NC game saying the only chance ND has if 'bama doesn't show up and now this. what is he thinking.

ND has deep pockets. If they want to keep him they will open up the wallet. Maybe just maybe this has left a bad taste in the admin. mouth and they want him to leave.

My thoughts exactly.....

Seriously? How in the world do you keep something like this private? Shhhh...Please don't tell anyone? There is nothing private anymore, especially the bigger and more powerful you are. I'm not sure, but I think anyone that is interviewed has to be made public anyways, and they have certain requirements on who has to be interviewed with regards to race and current position.
