I am seeing lots of stories on the "internets" that he is now considering the Irish as leaders for his services. His recruitment has been all over the place but he is a definite talent. What do you gents think?

Clemson with a slight lead but ND very much in the mix and with him being an EE he's got to decide soon. Most likely going to decide at some point Sunday.

He has committed to Clemson four or five times. This is weird.

We should know soon as the spring semester starts Monday for Florida and Wednesday for Clemson.

Sh*t. Just read it's Houston.

He just wants to shock the world.

PASS.

Let me be clear - LOVE his talent. Think he'd be an excellent fit for our receiving corps. Run blocks with an edge, and has ball skills - the kind of things that are harder to coach into a receiver than route running, reading coverages, etc.

At this point, I have zero interest in a kid who has waffled this much. It'd be one thing if we were desperate and had no choice but to take a roll of the dice, but with so many kids interested in ND and with 4 guys who will probably start their career at receiver, I want a guy who knows he wants to be here.

Sure, but what is the limit? Kiel was back and forth. Tuitt couldn't decide between ND and G. Tech near the end. Neal waffled big time.

In the end, you might lose them down the road, but ND needs a big time WR. This kid could fit the bill. If it takes him a while to figure out the next 4 years of his life, that is the way it goes.

Redfield wavered. Vanderdoes is. Prevot is. Plenty of kids have trouble figuring out where they want to go. This much trouble? Maybe not, but it happens.

Well, out of that list, I consider Tuitt to be the only one that waffled

Kiel first committed to IU - It was in-state, close to home, probably a school he cheered for growing up, and early playing time. Then he realized after watching IU that there really wasnt enough talent around that program to give Kiel the best chance to stand out and garner NFL scouts.

Kiel then committed to LSU - because other top programs already had a QB commitment, but after the QB locker room debacle and wanting to stay closer to home, he ended up choosing ND. I believe Kiel changed based on circumstances around the programs, He didnt really waffle, a situation came up, and he changed his mind based on that.

I dont understand how Neal waffled, he was simply late to his announcement party. Anything else is simply baseless speculation.

I would take him without a second thought and be happy;) However, we don't have a "need" for another receiver as we are already going to have trouble getting the ball into the hands of all the young receivers we have. I would prefer another big time player on the defense or flip Derek Henry...ya wishful thinking

Tough to turn away a top receiver and one of the best blockers at his position to boot.

Eh, it was more of a situation of Kevin Wilson pushing him away as Wilson really was cleaning house on the roster and Kiel's older brother (who was already on the IU roster) let his brother know that it was NO fun in that clubhouse through that process. Also, the Kiel's had hoped that his older brother (Dusty, I believe) would get a legit chance at starting QB, but he never did. They didn't seem to take it too well.

You are merely arguing semantics. Kiel himself was quoted in the paper the other day saying he was a goof with his indecisiveness. ALL 3 of those guys changed their minds MULTIPLE times...

Right.

The Lynch situation has me pretty leery about kids that seem confused and don't really know why. It's case by case, and it may not be fair to think this way, but in my view, there's a difference between Tuitt not knowing how to say, "No" vs. a kid whose mind changes with the way the wing blows like Lynch's has. Indecision a common theme? Yes, but the reasons why are important to me.

Considering that Robinson has never been committed to Notre Dame at any point in the process, I'd be very concerned about a kid who watched the ND title game and was "feelin' it" at the time, enrolled early, then hated trudging through snow to get to class a month later regretting his decision.

With Kiel, we're talking about a kid whose first instinct was to play close to home. With Tuitt, we're talking about a guy who did pledge to ND, then struggled saying no to the relationships he developed while coming up in HS. I really don't know much about Robinson other than he's already flirted with a bunch of schools, really struggles with the meaning of "commitment", and that I don't want one of our precious few spots going to a kid who just likes us as the flavor of the week.

I'd much rather push all in with someone like Vanderdoes or Hollins Jr or even LaRue before I start barking up Robinson's tree, but that's just me.

Fine, we are arguing semantics over Kiel, but how did Neal change his mind... EVER?
