Saw this on the NDN site. He was a member of the 88 NC team and is apparently in the very end stages of his battle with stomach cancer.

He did a breakdown with Jack Nolan of the upcoming BCS game on UND.com.

I spoke to him at Soho here in Granger 1 1/2 years ago and he was 3 times bigger than me. Now I probably outweigh him by at least 50 pounds. Very sad. I will pray for a miracle for him.

Speedster, if what I read at TOS is accurate he may be past the miracle stage as they were talking about his final hours. I believe in miracles but realistically, he may be at the point where you pray for his soul and family as well.

Cancer is devastating...

Really enjoyed that interview and analysis. Pray he is blessed with a reprieve.

From TOS(NDN): Mirko Jurkovic has passed.

If so, rest in peace. Prayers and strength to his family and all those that have known him.

Wow! Didn't know it was that close. God rest his soul and prayers to him and his family and friends. So sad.:rip:

Tough man.. Worked and loved Notre Dame as long as he possibly could.. Win one for Mirko Guys!

His son Mirko is a 2015 player, Prayers to his family:pray2:

Speedster, the post I saw at NDN last night said he was in his final hours and earlier, Jack Nolan tweeted that he was back in the hospital and septic. I'm not a pessimist but that didn't bode well.

Cancer is an evil b****. Indiscriminate and unforgiving.

God bless his soul, may His perpetual light shine upon Mirko, and grant his family strength and peace. Amen.

My Prayers go out to Mirko and his family! What a great player for ND# I Won't forget him!

Prayers to Mirko and his family during this difficult time for them. Wherever he is come Monday night, I know he'll be smiling.

I saw that, happy to be wrong. That's the internet for you. Here's hoping he has the chance to watch the game if he's able.
