All over the sports talk shows (Fox and ESPN) that Kelly is being considered for one of the NFL head coaching vacancies.

I know that these things are sometimes the obvious rumors that get started when a HC from the Collegiate ranks has the kind of success Kelly has had with ND this year. Then again it is sometimes the agent floating the ideas to see what kind of feeding frenzy his client could generate. Especially when there are so many vacancies. Given all that... if ND wins the the Championship... Is it possible that Kelly would leave after 3 years? Is he interested in the NFL? Do we have a better chance of keeping him if ND looses. Chip and Nick are the more obvious departures from the College Ranks.

My head hurts every time I hear the comments on the radio about this possibility.

Might want to consider changing the title of this thread or adding a "?"

are you sure you aren't getting confused with CHIP KELLY? He is being interviewed by LOTS of teams.

Chip Kelly is one of the candidates out there, but rumors are now swirling that BK's name is out there. I don't see much weight to it. I just think it's one of those things to stir the pot, but who knows?

No prob. Give Charlie Strong a call.

Very much agree with this.

Imagine if USC snapped up Charlie Strong. Oh no, let's not.

No ... there is talk about BK. Thanks Echo .. I will add the ?

Monday after the mass exodus of NFL coaches, ESPN immediately cited Chip Kelly, BK, and O'Brien at Penn State as the top contenders for the coaching vacancies.

Just stirring the pot I think, while Chip Kelly seems a near certainty, I doubt BK makes a move and I would be hard pressed to imagine someone taking O'Brien based on one year's work. And that is supposing any of these coaches want to make the jump to the NFL.

I believe Chip is the most likely. Forgot about O'Brien. He is a strong candidate as well. Pro experience under his belt, The Belichick coaching tree, and an opportunity to get out from under the impending weight of all the recruiting sanctions and bowl bans?

I'm surprised David Shaw's name isn't being thrown around with his recent successes as well as Harbaugh's success in the NFL so far. I know Shaw is in love with Stanford and probably wouldn't jet, but I'm shocked I haven't heard any rumors on him.

I just can't see him going. I realize that he is on a sinking ship but he would incur a massive amount of ill will were he to move on this year. And I think you are right about Chip, he is probably going to be looking at a lot of great offers and I don't see Oregon getting any closer to the NC than they did this year.

Read this today as well.....

Make no mistake, Kelly is always looking for the next challenge....

If a NFL puts something crazy on the table not this year but maybe next year, were looking for a new HC...

During the rose bowl they said stanford extended and gave him a raise on his contract. He's going nowhere.

I can see BK being Belichek's successor in 5 or so years in New England. I'd be shocked if he went anywhere in the near future. The same types of stories were leaking about Charlie during his first year at ND.

Why would i want to become a legend at ND , retire after ten years , and become rich ,famous and respected beyond all measure ??--WHEN I HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO COACH THE CLEVELAND BROWNS FOR THREE YEARS GET FIRED AND THEN STRUGGLE MY WAY BACK FROM OBSCURITY__:grin:

Kelly will make his views clear the first time the question is put to him directly.

Remember Charlie got a pretty good deal from ND when he let rumors float after his first trip to the BCS!

I have ZERO CONCERNS on this matter.

Hawaii, i dont think coaches think in those terms. They are more optimistic. Jimmy Haslem has injected some energy into browns organization.

Not that I like to read Jason Whitlock, but he mentions CBK as his favorite of any possible coaches available:

It’s my belief that Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly is the best NFL coaching candidate on the market. It’s remarkable what he’s done at Notre Dame. I don’t mean this as an insult, but I don’t see Kelly as a “molder of men.” The Declan Sullivan/scissor lift tragedy told me all I need to know about Kelly as a college coach. He’s a mercenary focused on one thing — winning games. Kelly is a guy who loves football. He’s meant to coach in the NFL. He reminds me of Jim Harbaugh. Kelly will tone down his sideline rants in the NFL.

But Scott Pioli can’t help Brian Kelly transition to the NFL. Pioli can’t help any college coach transition to the NFL. Retaining Pioli limits Hunt’s options at head coach.

Uh huh, and the guy you did see as a "molder of men" is now coaching women's golf. So if your judgement is TW: molder of men, BK: not a molder of men, then I don't trust your judgement, Jason.

Plus, the ND team this year is a group you can be proud of on and off the field. Name me one guy who you like as a player, but wouldn't invite to a backyard BBQ out of fear.

BK's man molding is just fine, thank you Jason.

Then don't!!!!

Whitlock is a hack.

He has been a hack for years and ever since the sacking of Ty he has been a race baiting huckster as well as a hack. The gratuitous use of the Sullivan tragedy in that quote was as nauseating as everything else that puke writes...

Brian Kelly is going to be coaching Notre Dame for the foreseeable future.

Its nice to see the rumors about the ND coach be losing to the pros instead of losing their job period though...
