After making totally obnoxious comments about Northern Illinois making the Orange Bowl, Herby had the balls to go on TV today and say that his comments lit a fire under Northern Illinois which could inspire them to a good effort tonight.

 

Going on television and whining like a baby because Northern Illinois made a BCS game was douchey enough, but to then try and take credit for lighting a fire under them is ridiculous.

He can disagree with them being there but Herby can show a little class and professionalism when he talks about the game.

I hate this whole Northern Illinois "controversy." It's complete BS, when you have a FIVE LOSS Wisconsin team in the BCS. The Big Ten should've had to forfeit its spot to the SEC or Oklahoma. Northern Illinois is hardly a controversy...

I agree with you. That is extremely self centered. But I actually don't mind Herby too much. He has trouble controlling his mouth. When he said ND's defense looked as slow as a high school defense, it wasn't correct in any sense of the possibility. They were obviously faster than any high school defense ... ever ... but his general idea that the ND defense was slow compared to college was correct. He also said that after the Michigan game and Denard would make anyone look slow. You just need to remember he is a commentator and is paid to make comments that people can relate to and take interest in. We obviously took interest since I am still pissed off about it. But that is what he is paid to do. I have said it before and will say it again, 90% of commentators may know something about football (Herby does, Mayock does, even Spielman does) but none of them are even average when it comes to intelligence level in our society. Most just spit out whatever comes to mind.

I have to agree. I've never really had issues with herby. I think he's pretty genuine & would like to meet the dude some day. That's IF I can tread through my wife's drool...

Just a typical buckeye showing his true colors. If they lose, his public roasting was validated. If they win or keep it close and lose he served as the motivation. Once again making himself the story and not the game, players, universities or anything else...

I have some interest in the Cotton Bowl and I've really enjoyed the Outback bowl but aside from that, I'm not really too into anything besides the NC game.

I have interest in nearly all. I just love CFB. That's just me. I'll watch a lil nfl postseason, but it's not my cup

I like Kirk, I dont like N. Illinois in a BCS game, but I dont like announcers taking credit like that. Kirk deserves a Gibbs (NCIS) slap.
