He is not a 5 star but is a tremendous prospect--6.0 #70 player on rivals-

He has been talking to the staff and to JAYLON ( man that kid is aiming at being the recruiting coordinator-- ) for a couple of weeks.

It is possible he visits--but possible is all there is right now---Vanderdoes apparently wants him to visit also.

You have Prevot/Hollins & now Hutchings all still being recruited---

One has to wonder if the staff is anticipating losing AQM to qualifications and this flurry is just to MAKE SURE we take our best shots at still finishing with what we want.

Going to be an exciting close--lots of things could shift around here at the end---but it is hard not to feel optimistic when the dust settles we will be happy one way or the other!

He's a great LB but I don't see how he fits into ND's scheme because unlike those 3-4 OLB that ND has they can shift to DE in a four man front whereas Hutchings is a true 4-3 OLB.

247 Composite has him as the #69 recruit in the nation, #8 OLB, so this is a blue chip guy.

As mentioned, he is a very small OLB: 6'2" 215. Then again, Jaylon is listed as 6'3" 218...

Remember, flirting with a visit is a couple steps away from signing with ND. In fact, it's six steps: deciding to take the visit, alerting USC coaches of that intention, actually taking the visit, decommitting from USC, committing to ND, and then signing with ND. That's six steps of uncertainty. ;)

So if I end up putting this guy into the Win Some Lose Some thread when I next update, it will be waaaaayyyyyy toward the bottom. For now.

I found it interesting that in the Rivals article, not only did they mention Jaylon Smith talking to him about playing for ND, but that "...even recent USC de-commit Eddie Vanderdoes have talked to him about playing for the Irish. "

At a minimum, that makes it sound very good with Vanderoes....

If we are getting a true ring from the article about the ND pitch from eddie--- & also many at USC are saying that vanderdoes has been actively PUSHING the irish to hutchings.

THAT IS HUGE IMO ON VANDERDOES.

He has gone from a long shot befroe the decommit--to an equal shot after--and with these late developments it sounds like ND may have the momentum on this great player.

Getting Vanderdoes & Redfield after both decomitted from USC---thats two 5 stars--IS ALMOST TOO GOOD TO HOPE FOR---yet its hard not to

At moments like these, I think back to a scene from the move "Days of Thunder". Tom Cruise is all messed up in the head from his crash and Cary Elwes is busy smashing him into the wall. So Elwes has this dumb little laugh he does every time he crumples Cruise's car.

That's what I feel like when I hear about the next brick falling in the Kiffy disaster that is now SC. And if we can be the cause of some of that pain....then let's SMASH'EM INTO THE WALL AGAIN!...hahahahahaha...

I noticed that as well, It seems getting Vanderdoes may be possible and not just a pipe dream.

Is it possible?? Is it possible we are trying to destroy USC??

Maybe last year Kiffens & Orgeron went too far with Tee and Greenberry and I bet others too. So now the Irish staff is going after them. you know ... "They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue."

If its too good to be true it usually is...but this is so exciting

Usually but I think this time we have a shot at Vanderdoes. I wouldn't be surprised if he visits ND and then cancels his visit to sc that is scheduled for the following week.

In terms of Vandermaybewill, it is all very fluid right now.

It seems these decommits would be fertile ground for Urban Meyer, yet I haven't heard of Ohio State being in the mix for these guys. Are they full?

What does OSU offer that USC doesn't? ND offers academics on top of everything else. Ohio State... Not so much.

Actually, it seems like UM is in on about 4 or so 5 stars which would fill his class. Seems like he will be focused on locking them up over the next month. They're putting a nice class together and don't appear to need any surprises steals.

The fact that they dont offer academics is the appeal. See? :)
