Damn...I play on PS3...and the few times I get matched against someone else using ND they back out instead of playing it as a Blue & Gold game...I refuse to use any other team on NCAA (which in the past has always been one of the reasons I lose a lot - the other reason being that I have no time to learn the tricks that so many seem to rely on in online play)...

Those were the helmets worn in FedEx Field for last year's Shamrock Series beat down of Maryland...

 

ND twice wore Shamrocks on the helmet last year - @ Michigan (without the swirlies) and in the Shamrock series game against Maryland.

 

Personally those are less offensive than the ones worn this year...

I love the traditional looks of both and ND and Bama I hope they keep it that way for this game. I do like throwing something crazy out there now and again with a shamrock or leprechaun it adds some spice to things and kids love it for recruiting. But a team like ND ,BAMA, Penn State, Michigan , Oklahoma , Nebraska. Should never change there traditonal look totally .

If ND's going to wear the green shamrock helmet, with green facemask, it looks to me like, dare I say it.................................wait for it.............................................green jerseys?! I'm just guessing here, but it doesn't make sense to have blue jerseys with all the green in the helmet. Just sayin'.

 

Edit: upon further research, I'm questioning the credibility of the picture in Tambo's post. The link posted below indicates ND's wearing Blue home jerseys. Again, why would there be so much green in the helmet with blue jerseys?

ND issued a statement earlier today via Twitter debunking this rumor. It'll be the classic gold helmets for Jan 7th.

It looked the same on TV but there were some subtle differences that seemed to be accepted by the fanbase. Probably because we knew it was just for one game. It may be hard to see but there is a light gray houndstooth patter in the numbers...
