Can we have a thread for new Recruiting Developments only? I appreciate everyones comments on position depth, videos, evaluations, etc. but I find myself checking the board frequently hoping for new developments and only finding discussions not pertaining to new info. If its ok with the mods I'd like to use this thread as a place to post new info only.

I appreciate the enthusiasm, but each thread would turn into a discussion about the new info, so it would simply be more effective if we just have individual threads for recruits and when something pops up, post it in their respective threads, then discuss it.

In the world of recruiting...if you don't like speculation or discussion....I would just stick to the commits thread

Hi BKRKC ...

board culture ... the DD recruiting board just randomly weaves news with speculation.

Also, distinguishing what is "new" versus what is speculative is a fine line.

If you only want information verified by an accountable source (paysite or recruit)... you should the 2Lakes twitter thread... but you'd have to filter out some stuff.

so it would simply be more effective if we just have individual threads for recruits

I like the cut of your jib, jaksonricha - I can tell you're going to be an enduring and insightful contributor to DD; probably one day to rival Rocketsan (but keep your eye on that shifty bastard - he's liable to try & falsely rat you out to the moderators for being a bot!).:biggrin1:

Shouldn't it be B.K.R.K.G.?

Right Kinda Coach, I suspect.

Agree with this. How would anyone know what is new information and what has been posted in a specific recruit's thread? I think we would end up with a lot of duplicate posts which are a pain to weed through.

I'll just continue to read entire pages of posts about whether NJ high school football can hold a candle to Ohio...

You'll be fine, BKRKC. You can get through these trying and difficult times. We've all got your back!

Sarcasm aside, once in a while its fine to step in and get people back on track from a tangent. Best way to do it is to dig up something relevant/juicy about that thread's topic. That usually causes the side conversations to dissipate.

I just received my Catholics vs cousins t shirt from sportscrack!

An entire page about the RB depth of Holtz' s teams. I was just trying to find a solution so people visting the site didn't have to read thru so many garbage posts before finding pertinent recruiting news. I love Domer domain bc of the friendly atmosphere but I don.t have time to read thru some of the off topic threads. I was just trying to offer a suggestion to improve the site and encourage more visitors. It could be a quick update instead of sorting through multiple threads. Guess I'm in the minority on this.

Sadly, you are talking about the difference a discussion board and a news feed. I get meaningful recruiting updates in my email from 247 sports as the developments happen. Might be a better fit for what you are looking for.

I keep coming to this thread expecting to read something about new developments on recruiting, but keep finding discussion on the merits of a newsfeed versus bulletin board.

can we get back on topic? ;-)

It's a fine suggestion, it just isn't really feasible. I guess in theory you could have a thread where only updates were posted, but who decides what is an update? Who is going to add to it regularly? What happens if you have a comment, do you have to start a new thread?

Now, by all means, if you want to try and start, run and maintain a thread like this, I say go for it.

But in the end, message boards are what they are. They are tough to maintain.

Ya, this is a forum, not a news feed. Get over it if you are going to be like that.

Completely disagree with you. There's nothing wrong with a discussion thread dedicated to news updates. Hell, we already do that with "retweets for the twitterless" and our 201X commit threads. Why not do a "recruiting newsfeed" thread??? It would be nice to read a thread that sctually has to do with the title.

I say we add a poll to this thread to see whho wants a dedicated update thread. One more thing... Who runs the DD twitter? Do u need help? I tweet and retweet like a fiend, plus I'd keep it on point and classy if u need assistance. That is all.

Agree with this. 247 does a nice job with their news feed.

This. ^^^^

Guy complains about intelligent fan discussions? I guess people will complain about anything. Btw, this is a dead period for recruiting, no? So, no news.
