Interesting tweet about Barrett Jones recently:

"Unfortunately saw Barrett Jones in a cast and crutches while I was over at the Mal Moore Athletic Facility interviewing the AD. Hope hes ok."

Britton Lynn (MyFOXal) Sports Reporter

Don't know about the source but thinking Nix can beat this dude and collapse the pocket. Think this is the most important matchup of this game is our dline v. their oline. We must stop the run, as we've done all season quite well, and get to McCarron.

Go Irish Go!!!

Just read this on the TideFans message board:

"I knew this but I wasn't going to say a word until there was some sort of an official announcement. Not claiming to be some big insider, far from it, much simpler than that. The woman who actually did the MRI imaging is coincidentally the daughter of one of my best friends and is my friend on Facebook as well. My friend emailed me and simply said....

"(Barrett) has a broken foot but he should be able to play."

He basically played with the same injury in the SECCG which just shows how much guts Barrett has.

I wouldn't be surprised if it comes out in a few days that Lacy has a broken hand and is in a cast as well...but I bet he'll be able to play too."

The girl who does the MRI imaging will probably be looking for a new job soon thanks to her Dad's best friend.

Welcome to DD Dick (no pun intended.) From all I've gathered, Jones is hurting right now. No doubt he'll play but he'll be limited. Realize the SEC has some nasty dlinemen but our front 3 are some bamfs and are going to be very hungry in this game. Our defensive tackle (Irish Chocolate) is always famished. This game is going to be awesome.

What a jackass...is it really that important to let people know that and risk her losing her job....oh well I guess she is the one at fault for telling anyone

Thanks, OKC! That matchup should be an all-out war and really should go a long way in determining the course of the game. I like Big Lou's chances. I am extremely pumped for this game too. By some crazy stroke of luck, I've got myself a ticket and 1/7 can't come soon enough!

Yeah, he really should have thought twice before posting that one. He was so damn specific about the girl!

It's unfortunate to see such talented players get injured like this, but at the same time, ND has to be 'lickin their chops'. Even if it only has a minimal effect on Jones, this helps us get that much more penetration, which could help slow Bama's run game. The key word though is "slow" their run game, we need all the help we can get to slow that duo of star athletes in their backfield..

We stop the run flat out and led the country in points allowed on defense. No one is talking about our defense as usual, just Alabama's running game. Look Lacey and Yeldon can run no doubt, but they aren't Ingram and Richardson. If this Jones injury is legitimate, Nix will have a chance to dominate. He's too damn big and good to stop with an injured player. Also, if anyone has any info on that Lacey potential injury from an above post please share unless it's bs. That could be huge also.

...I don't think many are worried about Lacy/Yeldon....I'm worried about Cyrus, Jones, Warmack, and Fluker....they are a great offensive line....Notre Dame has proven they are one of the best tackling teams in the country...hopefully they can continue to do what they are best at which is minimizing

The Barrett Jones injury is neither a secret or a rumor- its front page on bama rivals--its a bad sprain? --its been in cast since the georgia game--he has been hobbling around to all the award shows----he vows he will be fine by the 7th---

Saban also is hinting that kenny bell may be recovered enough from his broken bone to play as well---thats still not firm at all though.

Not going to win this one by injury attrition--we're going to have to go take it from the HEALTHY--WELL RESTED__DEFENDING CHAMPS---No back doors in this game--

I completely agree with you. I myself feel that Bama's offense is overrated to an extent (I.e. people comparing it to Ingram and Richardson's). But at the same time, I like anything that gives us more of an advantage! :thumb:

That's what makes this such a great matchup. Best oline v. best dline. The two greatest programs, arguably, in college football history. Good defense usually trumps good offense. We have a legendary, destiny defense.

McCarron is decent and clutch, but he got outdueled by Manziel. If Manziel and A&M can beat Bama, no reason we can't. I feel Manziel is a better qb than Everett currently, but Everett has a better arm and this kid put up sick ass numbers in hs when completely handed the keys. Realize this game is a far far cry from his hs days, but the key similarity is Kelly/Martin are going to give the keys in this one just like Manziel got them from Sumlin. Golson and our dline will win this game and bring our beloved Irish our 12th national championship.

Mark it down.

HIPPA - easy to track down now. But how many follow DD besides us faithful and Tombo or that Bama fan.

Jones makes this world a better place but hopefully not on the night of mon. Jan. 7:rain:

This is / was not secret. Barrett himself has confirmed a sprained metatarsal. I am not Ortho but I believe it is very rare to fracture, as in break in two, the metatarsal. Usually it just gets sprained.

Saban confirmed he will be on a bike until Christmas and then back out on the field so we should be able to go (but will probably need a pain killer for the game). Barrett is a tough guy and I don't see anything keeping him off the field 1/7.

Highly doubt he won't play. But, clearly, the kid is not going to be 100%. That could work against some defensive lines ok, but not ours and Louis Nix as well.

Is there any legitimacy that Lacey has some type of injury or is that bs?
