bad news,,,just bad news..I just heard that the french army watched film of alabama and surrendered. I have sent an email to BK requesting that the Irish leave the stadium at halftime because most alabama fans say it wont be close after half.

Too bad fans won't have any impact on what actually takes place on the field. I do think most intelligent Bama fans think that this game will be close well into the second half.

The only way I see is being up big at the half is if we come out fast, get your guys back on their heels and force you out of your gameplan... I don't think that is likely though.

Added Diaco on Bama

Bama had a very limited passing attack against lsu, tx a&m, and to a lesser extant GA because all of their starting wr rotation except for Norwood against LSU and a quarter against txam were playing with sprains. None of them had anywhere near the explosion they have when healthy, and no surprise they had trouble getting separation. AJ also was coming off a severely bruised back previous game to LSU. That is the reason why Bama's passing game looked so much better first half of season and AJ was putting up gaudy stats. Bama mod stated following after practice last few days:

"The good news on the receivers was the way the Norwood-Chr.Jones-Cooper trio ran. All three had nagging injuries come and go during the regular season. Those issues appear to have vanished. Haven't seen those three explode off the line on the same day like they did Tuesday since the early camp days in August."

Also against GA is the first time Lacy has been healthy all year. Against ND Bama's offense will have no hands tied behind its back. The passing attack will be 100% and we are running the ball better than we have all year. The Bama staff is great at cleaning up stuff from regular season and getting offense and defense to play a higher notch than regular season. ND will get the best Bama team, one that would kill the same team that played LSU and tx am. Better than the one that beat GA.

If I'm Kelly I'm still stopping your run even if I have to play some man to man in the secondary

News for you,

Both Bennett Jackson and KeiVarae Russell are much better than you guys think.

Our defensive line is better than yours collectively.

On Offense

Eifert will be a matchup issue for you. If we split him out and he occupies Millner who has got TJ Jones? or Theo Riddick or Devaris Daniels

If you don't think Everret Golson, is getting better and HIS FAVORITE Target DeVaris Daniels. 6'4 4.45 is getting back your mistaken..

We have 3 running backs too. two seniors..

The games in the south and your QB has been there before and you like your backup receivers, Saban's defense will be tough, but I've seen it much tougher.

Yeldon is talented but he has no BCS Bowl experience either..

Our offensive line may not be as highly regarded, but make no mistake 200 YPG rushing was no accident

Don't take ND for Granted, Oklahoma did and lost by 17 in their house

wow, I didn't realize all this. I'm not going to even watch the game now, whats the point. This alabama team would beat the '85 bears 221-0, all while sitting their starters early in the third quarter.

look, alabama is a great team, we all know that. Nick has a dynasty going. We are all excited for the chance to play and beat the 'best.' You have alot of reasons to be confident in your team, but this simply is not the same caliber of alabama team that you had last year, not close.

You just got an amen.

When reading 007's post, it was like ND is stuck in time while Bama gets healthy. The fact is, both teams heal. And while your ?# of wr's were on the mend, ours were getting better with experience.

I also feel DeVaris will play a role in this game now that's he's back to practice.

Bama had a very limited passing attack against lsu, tx a&m, and to a lesser extant GA because all of their starting wr rotation except for Norwood against LSU and a quarter against txam were playing with sprains. So you are saying the level of competition had nothing to with it?? WOW!!

Thanks StuckInParadise (see what I did there:laugh:). Not exactly what I was looking for but those stats are telling. I think AJ benefits a bit from not having to do much but comparatively he and Golson had almost the same number of attempts on the season with AJs Comp% at almost 67% while Golson was at 59%.

More telling is the stats against AP ranked teams. AJ was at 59% while Golson was at 47%. Take into consideration AJ was sacked twice as much as Golson and I think it speaks to 2 things (at least to me): 1) AJ does not lose his head and let getting hit impact his throwing as some here think is the case and 2) I think Golson's mobility saves him some sacks which definitely factors into the # of sacks ND allowed this season. I think the sacks allowed # is aided by Golson's mobility.

Do you think Golson has more of a tendency to scramble to extend the play to throw? -OR- do you think he scrambles to extend the play and run? I think Manziel is more the extend the play to run type. Interesting even he was sacked 22 times with their two all world tackles Joeckel and Matthews.

Those are misleading stats. AJ has hit his ceiling a long time ago. The EG stats are from a guy in his first year as a starter. His stats are much better in the latter half of the year than they were in the beginning.

There are two things you can't do if you are a true fan of college football.

1.) Deny the fact that the SEC is the best conference by a significant margin.

2.) Not be a fan of Notre Dame on some level.

I think you will find that the majority of ND haters are jealous of them on some level. Also, if ND joined the SEC, you will also find all of a sudden alot of people loving ND in the SEC. Most ND fans dislike ND simply because they are not in the SEC. THis is the same mind set of hood rats that defend a corner or street with their lives even though they don't own it.

A great team is a gross overstatement.

Those are misleading stats. AJ has hit his ceiling a long time ago. The EG stats are from a guy in his first year as a starter. His stats are much better in the latter half of the year than they were in the beginning.

Will it matter that AJ is a 2 year starter and Golson is a first year starter on the scoreboard in the BCSNCG? Golsons stats were better at the end and people will tell you AJ's stats were not better at the end of the year.

However in the last 5 games AJ's completion % averaged 69.4% vs. a season average of 66.8%. His efficiency rating for the last 5 games was 189.25 vs. a season average of 173.08. What you see is that from a completion perspective, he was slightly worse in the last 5 than the full year but still completing 2/3 of his passes which is very respectable. His efficiency was greatly aided by a 6 for 6 performance w/ a TD against W. Carolina, he was basically shut down after the 1st qtr.

Golson's completion % in the last 5 was 59.58% vs. a season total of 58.9%. I agree he played better towards the end but after Oklahoma, the level of competition significantly dropped off (you will never convince me that USC was any good this year). This is only a slight improvement (.68% for Golson vs. 2.6% for AJ). Where Golson really showed signs of improvement, statistically, was in efficiency. He rating was 146.88 for the last 5 games vs. a season average of 131.79. Again, I think this was aided some by the level of competition but I am willing to accept he has improved as a passer. As a first year QB he should and he did.

If AJ hit his ceiling, why did his stats in the last 5 games improve?

Certainly, I don't want to give the impression that stats are everything... I know they don't tell the whole story but they do paint part of the picture.
