saw on IE that there may be a current Big 12 commit that has taken an interest in ND. A couple of names being thrown around, but nothing concrete.

Interesting developments on the #recruiting front. #NDTrain

UPDATE: Might be this guy, ISD seems to think it is.

We dont need him

I hear Notre Dame did want another TE recruit in this class if they could get one.

One of them is likely Mr lauderdale--speedy lauderdale-- check out the thread--

i think robinson could be another tight end in this class if he grows anymore, which is likely because i recall his father grew a bit while at the naval academy.

I wish you guys would quit trying to make this kid into a tight end. He's skinny. He has some big time wide receiver skills.

6'6", 230, and a 4.75 40 for high school sounds good to me. I trust the staff on this one, with good reason.

So was Eifert in high school...

So was Eifert in high school...

Yep. Eifert was a WR and really still is...kind of. He's definitely a mix of both WR & TE and it's very plausible to see a kid like Robinson switch to Eifert's hybrid role. Having great hands has a way of bleeding into other positions quite well. Don't count out this possibility. We've already seen it play out with Tyler Eifert and how'd that work?? I trust the staff completely and unequivocally...

I like corey robinsons potential ALOT!

Eifert was recruited as a TE and was bigger then Corey coming out of HS---One thing both players have in common IMO is that they were both under the radar with great upsides---Tyler was rated a midling 3 star with a 5.6-----Corey , even though he was a late starter has a little more punch in his early grade (All Star game invite--4 star on only scout) but still not much more.

Its VERY DIFFICULT to be sure where corey is going physically, remember his father grew a FREAKINSH 6 inches in college , so looking for a late spurt of a couple inches is very possible. COREY could settle at 6/5 and beef up over a couple of seasons to become a legit inside guy , that is certainly possible---But he could end up more like 6/7 , with a slighter build and that impressive galloping speed of his long stride---less a TE and more of a HAROLD CHARMICHAEL-----that would be my hope for him , that he develops into a very potent WR rather then another TE, we seem to bring in a good one every season, TE prospects with more bulk then Corey , maybe we get something UNIQUE in corey---

You know we are doing well when I don't care about the emergence of a new recruit 2 months before NSD who isn't a 5*....

agreed echo... the reason I posted it was because initially there was a murmur about one of them being a 4/5* DT in A'Shawn Robinson. That is what made me excited at first.

It really is the truth. For the younger members, this is how recruiting works when we're on top and a have a top flight staff as we do currently. We ALWAYS get a top class. Not waiting on the scraps.

Haha! Thought the same thing. Was almost shocked how blasé I was about this "news"

Could the possible transfer of DGB to ND be the rumor?

I don't think anyone is TRYING to make Robinson a TE. I think the point is to merely say,

"Maybe someday." We've got plenty there as is between Niklas, Koyack, and Huerman in the fold - it's not like we're hurting or scouring the earth for the next TE.

HS Profiles

Eifert: 6'6" 220

Robinson: 6'5" 200

It's understandable - he IS skinny; now. Just saying - if he grows two more inches, and he naturally adds good weight with Longo (i.e. Kona Schwenke, who went from a 6'4" 215 biscuit to a 285 lbs monster in a VERY short amount of time), there's a chance he could follow a similar career trajectory to Tyler.

And even at that, does the difference between WR and TE really matter all that much? I'm probably exaggerating with this #, but 60% of the time, Eifert was lined up as our #1 receiver this year. No matter what he was listed as in the media guide, he was still lined up wide, and was still our jump ball guy in the red zone.

IF Robinson grows, and can bring WR skills to match ups with linebackers and safeties by lining up as a TE, while still maintaining the skills to win some match ups on the outside, that's a huge win for us. At this point though, it's all speculation based on who we have on the roster, and who Corey's Dad is.

In the mean time... we're going to be happy with whoever we add, and if Corey stays on the outside. It really is becoming a competition for those last few spots. The staff may have to ask themselves if they'd rather start lopping off 5th year guys or not. Still think they bring back guys like Carlo and Fox if push comes to shove, because this team is capable of returning to a BCS bowl game, but it will be VERY tempting to look at this recruiting class as a hefty down payment for the future. SO many good problems to have on the trail.

Say what????

Could the possible transfer of DGB to ND be the rumor?

I doubt this rumor is true....

I remember his father saying that he would never let his son go to ND because Coach Kelly yelled to much....

Then DGB said the same thing.... He said he doesn't like being yelled at....

To me, when Eifert lines up in the slot or out wide he is not a tight end. I just don't see Robinson lining up like Nicklas and blocking. This will be fun to watch what happens. Some posters are not very high on Robinson but I am. I like that he comes in early. I really see him as that jump ball guy in the red zone as soon as next year. I've been monitoring everything about him and I think maybe he has quit growing at 6' 5''.
