Now that would be awesome.

They basically need to beat Northern Illinois on Friday, then hope Stanford beats UCLA again.

If they are top 16 (number 17 currently) and ahead of a Conference champ (they'll be ahead of any Big East champ), they'll get an auto-bid.

And a likely date with Florida St.

What the heck, why not. Nobody watches the game anyhow...Where is Kent St. by the way? Ohio I know but is it Kent?

I bet he would buy some new socks for that game.

Stewart Mandel's take on this:

Finally, there's the possibility that Kent State will crash the party. A rash of losses by teams ranked ahead of them lifted the 11-1 Golden Flashes to No. 17 in the latest standings, just one spot from a guaranteed berth, and No. 16 UCLA could very well lose this weekend. The Flashes should get a boost if they beat 11-1 Northern Illinois in this week's MAC championship game. If all that happens, they'd likely go to the Orange Bowl at the expense of a second Big 12 team, with the Sugar Bowl taking the Big East champ. However, keep in mind there's a sizable gap in the BCS score between UCLA and Kent State and there's no guarantee they'd swap spots.

Northeast Ohio. Just Northeast of Akron, between Ravenna and Cuyahoga Falls.

Lost to kentucky by 33 points. even boise had to go undefeated to reach these games, right?

The short answer is no.

If Kent wins the MAC title game, they'll beat another ranked team in Northern Illinois. If #16 UCLA loses to Stanford, Kent will jump them.

All Kent needs to do is finish in the Top 16 of the BCS and finish ahead of an AQ conference champion. Kent will finish ahead of the Big East champ, so it doesn't matter if they lost by a million to Kentucky.

ND fans want to point out (rightfully) that Pitt is a better team than it was when they lost to Youngstown State. Well, this Kent team is way better than the one that lost to Kentucky. Watch them play -- they're legit.

I'll be honest, I'd be more excited for Kent making a BCS bowl than Notre Dame getting to the BCSCG. Don't be too mad -- it's my alma mater and a season like this will very likely never happen again.

Kent making the Orange Bowl would be, by a wide margin, one of the least likely things that has ever happened. The Golden Flashes have never won a conference title and haven't been to a bowl since 1972.

To put it into perspective, that 1972 team was led by two current SEC coaches (Nick Saban and Gary Pinkle) and Jack Lambert, was coached by Don James and they played a team that doesn't even play football anymore (University of Tampa).

Also, the bowl was the Tangerine Bowl. That bowl isn't even a thing anymore. I believe it's now the Capitol One Bowl.

This could be a great year for Kent State athletics..their baseball team made an amazing run at the end of last season to finish in the Final 4 of the College World Series. A BCS appearance would be great for the conference and generate a lot of money. Huge for the MAC. Love to see it happen (Ball State supporter)

Imagine if Georgia Tech beat FSU, you could have Tech vs Kent St
