echo88
Uhhh what? Didn't he announce prior to Wake that it would be his last home game for ND?
IrishCalves
Uhhh what? Didn't he announce prior to Wake that it would be his last home game for ND? 2 more games left. Kid tears up his knee, or something off the field comes up, could change his decision process. Seriously though, I don't like that we're hearing about this NOW. Not the kind of thing that needs to be brought up on the eve of what is essentially a semi-final for the national title.

hawaiiirish
If this is even a minor surprsie to anyone--then they are NOT paying attention. NFL is a solid decision for a very good back that has had a flashy but lightly used season.--Size--Speed--Elusivness--well coached from a strong program--very healthy---they will like him in the NFL! aloha's go irish! DTCBND03
Cierre said a while ago senior day was his last game at nd. I'm pretty sure we've k own this for a while and another year won't do too much for his draft stock. He should leave after this year for his own interests. IrishWarrior81
How high is he projected at this point? I think he is a great back I just don't see the benefit of entering the draft this year versus next other than the injury worries. Will he have his degree after this year? I guess I would support the move to the pros more if he will graduate this year. Anyways Mom, could we maybe save the pros and cons list for the offseason? I don't think now is the time for this discussion.
moostache
The days of a single running back dominating the carries for an NFL team are ending in a big way. Nearly EVERY team is churning RBs at an amazing rate. Best of luck to Cierre, but MAKE SURE TO HAVE YOUR DEGREE FIRST!!! He will do fine in life and may just make a nice chunk of change in the NFL for a few years, but there are no more Walter Payton / Emmit Smith type 12-15 year feature back careers out there...its kind of like going into the IT field in the USA now versus 15 years ago...no future in it! Rocketsan
I'm yet to see him ranked any higher than a fourth or fifth round pick...
OklahomaIrish
If I am Kelly I would tell him he is the starter. He has a chance for a big year with a lot more carries. Take out an insurance policy. With a degree from Notre Dame you will be fine regardless. Come on back.
hawaiiirish
As everyone knows i am a HUGE Cierre fan--IMHO he is the best running back we have had since J JONES--- I would absolutely LOVE to have him as the lead back next year--but its simply not going to happen---Risk-Reward is just TOO GREAT----Cierre will WOW EM at the combine---he will have a nice profitable career in the NFL i am quite sure.-- aloha's go irish! chirodomer
I can understand the injury issue. Is wonder why the college couldn't provide him with insurance.

I hope he doesn't run scared these last 2 games.

NYNDIRISH723
Anyone else not like the timing of this story? Like Echo said before, we all saw this coming last week, but it would have been nice if this could have waited until after the USC game. I thought they sat down with the panel after the season 3rd round seems high
