DON'T DO THAT

Say that he chose his time, don't get me all excited for a possible commitment.

Geez.

I'd say we still have a decent shot, he's just been keeping quiet for suspense purposes.

That was somewhat misleading ...Idk guys maybe we'll get a turn around from two stud players that we thought we lost...Donald and Wilson. Sounds like we still have a great shot with Chris Donald so maybe we shouldn't lose hope on Wilson, I know that I haven't.

Wilson is USC as much as I hate to say it.. We might as well move on to another.

I know most people see this as simply an ND/USC battle like Pat Haden was and many others through the years but is it really?

I don't know the status of his parents or their history. Divorced, separated, never married, I don't know but this may be a mom and dad battle. No, I'm not interested in the family laundry. We all have it. So if you have the skinny use discretion but bear with me here.

I read about his mom having involvement in his recruiting but if there was mention of dad I missed it until the USC trip surfaced. Then I read that Carroll got him in camp, worked his magic, and turned his head.

But I also read that Wilson's dad took him to Disneyworld and they had a great time.

Disneyworld?

A red blooded American teenager in the land of California girls and dad took him to Disneyworld. The Dodgers, Angels, Hollywood, La Brea tar pits, earthquake faults, hot clubs, there are loads of things to do in L.A.

What dad takes a 6-5, 300 pound young man to Walt's place?

Perhaps an absentee dad. Maybe one who missed out on the father and son things like - Disneyworld. Was their Fantasyland trip father and son bonding? Does dad want his boy near to make up for missed years? Is there a reciprocal yearning by the son?

Does mom want ND or does she want her son to get an ND education to set him up for the rest of his life? Holtz's 40 year decision.

Is dad a rabid Trojan fan or does he just want his boy near him for the next 4 years?

Powerful emotions. Complex decision. More than just the depth chart.

I was hoping he would postpone the decision to sort out the emotional issues and than make a rational decision.

Despite my biased viewpoint (ND fan), ND's actually the compromise. It's in the middle, on neither coast, roughly equidistant from mom and dad. They both get to see him every week on TV. Dad can catch live games at Stanford and USC and the Fiesta Bowl. Mom gets the rambler game in Orlando or Tampa, or an Orange Bowl. And there's plenty of airfare bargains between ORD/LAX and ORD/Fla. Meanwhile James gets the quality education that all ND student athletes get - the same quality education the non-athletes get.

I'll go anywhere I can get the best education. You never know, you could blow out your knee and never play football again, so education comes first. - St. Augustine (Fla.) Nease OL James Wilson

after reading this quote by wilson it would make me believe that he'll choose ND. if he really is this serious about education then it should be ND and not USC but who knows for sure.

Well here is some good news... So far Ragone, Kamara and Trattou all announced on days that I was either flying to or home from somewhere so that I could not sit impatiently at the computer waiting for the news.

Tomorrow I'm taking my family to the air port... I hope that is good enough.

Haha! I'll take anything I can get! By the way, there is chatter on USC boards that Wilson will pick the Irish. We only have one day left to wait and see if this is true.

is wilson going to be announcing on ESPN?

I have no info on this at all, but I really think he'll come to South Bend. If he had his decision date picked out before he went to see his father and go the S. Cal, which I think he did from previous articles on him, went to visit USC and hasn't changed his date, you would think that he's still sold on ND. I know crazy rumors floatin that he silented to Poodle but if he was so set on ND and knew when he wanted to announce, comes back and still is gonna have his press conference on the day he originally chose, ya kinda gotta think he still knows that NOTRE DAME IS THE PLACE to spend 4 years of college at.

I just don't see CW losing him to USC after he spend a couple days there. tyler got caught up in ND at the B&G game and said what he said, maybe Souther Cal awed him initially, then he was able to sit and really think and know that he's making the best decision for himself by becoming a DOMER.

At least I hope so and feel that way. Kinda like impulse buying. You go to the store for Christmas gifts and throw everything on the shelf in your cart for your daughter, then after a week in the toy section realize she doesn;t really need all of it and make the smart move and put half of it back. James will put USC back on the shelf and bring Notre Dame to the cash register.

Rumor floating around Rivals from a pretty reputable poster on the main site is saying that he will choose ND. Again, there is nothing to this. Just a rumor from a poster.

That's better than a reputable poster sayin he's gonna choose USC

Makes sense though him pickin ND, the more ya think about it with all that's been said, he'll be Irish. He was all ND prior to USC and still will be. It just seems logical.

well we'll find out in about 24 hrs won't we

i havent been this confused by a recruit in a long time

wilson was a lock for ND

visited cali and out of nowhere rumors fly about him picking USC

he talked about having a good time but didnt seem to say to much

everyone got quiet and USC fans went crazy

ND sources and writers got nervous

then he starts telling writers he has decided and momentum starts to turn back to ND and writers and sources seem uneasy but feeling better about him

i hate not being able to get any info, but for some reason i am starting to feel he will be irish

You're right TD, everywhere you look, everyone is clueless about Wilson. All the while CW is probably chucklin knowing he has James already in the bag.

It'll make his decision to ND that much sweeter now.

This is about killing me. You're right TD, I cannot find much on Wilson.

Farrell even seemed confused on the radio this morning. He said he thinks USC based on recent conversations, but was not very confident. At day's end, he thought Wilson was ND's to lose based largely on his desire to have strong academics. According to Farrell, USC somehow convinced Wilson they are committed to education, blah, blah, blah. Now he thinks USC, but he said he would not be surprised either way... I think he ended by saying he thought it was a true 50/50.

We must start winning these type of recruiting battles for the future. Let's hope we win this particular one...

I'm also very anxious and unsure about what Wilson is going to decide, but I think that we're looking better and better in recent days. I really think that Wilson's infatuation with USC had more to do with seeing his father and coming down with a case of "Marc Tyler syndrome". As his trip to Cali gets farther and farther away from his mind I think he has realized ND is where he wants to be.

With that said, if we do happen to lose him tomorrow it will be one of the biggest kicks to the stomach in recent memory. This kid was all Irish until recently so let's hope not much has changed.

I think it was TD who mentioned the rumors about his delaying the announcement because he did not know how to break the news, and now he is back to the original date. I think that is because he is choosing ND and isn't worried about breaking the news to poodle.

There has been some much hype, anticipation and posturing concerning Wilson's decision it is comical. Each post has been a show case of true love the Notre Dame fans have for the University and the football success. If Wilson does choose SC, so be it. We love our football team and the young men that represent ND. GO IRISH!

Fightingirshman (Cough Cough!) I'd say as a neutral guy there was only one post in your link (Cough! Cough!) worth bothering to look at.

(Mother Superior forgive me.)

Haha, I just checked out that board in your post IrishMan...I really hope that we get Wilson!! Those USC fans are so confident, hopefully they will all be let down tomorrow when Wilson becomes Irish! :D
