Apparently we are having some difficulty with this recruit----i don't have all the details but it seems he is still actively looking at other schools and now seems to want to take more of his officials.

It seems the staff isn't amenable to other visits and he is not happy about the policy or the pressure---(i didn't think we had a policy)---

Anyhow i guess reading between the lines without all the info there may be some wavering here---

Cory Clement et al still out there---but we do need a RB in this class----

What about Mahone and McDaniel? We aren't hurting at the running back spot by any means. IF Carlisle comes back healthy then we are deep the next two years with just what we have. If you look at Georgia and Alabama you can clearly see that top level backs from high school can play immediately at the D1 level. No worries here..don't settle.

Just read the story on Irish Illustrated. He's high on Notre Dame and even higher since we are number one. He said he may not take the visits and the coaches don't want him to. Plans to be back to South Bend in December. He met Jerome Bettis who told him to come in and be a dynamic player. Don't worry about James.

Good to hear. As I said previously, I like this kid as a recruit...

My guess is around this time of the year up until NSD is the recruiting sites busy season. Will probably read a lot of intentionally ambiguous headlines from paysites up until signing day.

I think we only have a few guys that could really damage our class if they leave.

Why wouldn't they bring back Cierre Wood regardless of what happens? Wood needs to improve his stock for the NFL, and Wood is our most versatile back. He's also one of the best home-run hitters in CFB.

Because it has to be mutual for the player to come back. Wood is not an indentured servant, and he's said he'll at least see what his NFL stock is before deciding on next year. Other various signs point to him preferring to leave. But you never know.

If he wants to come back, I would be completely stunned if the coaching staff didn't welcome him back and wasn't thrilled.

The other leg to this is he has to complete his undergraduate classes and be admitted to a graduate program to qualify for the 5th year.

My criteria for coming back is simple.

1. If you haven't graduated yet, you need to come back and do it. Hear that, Louis?

2. If you have unfinished business, you need to come back. I'm lookin' at you, Cierre.

3. If you can truly help the team, and you like the idea of getting your Masters degree for free, you need to come back. Carlo, Dan, Zach, and Chris - are you listening?

Or as it's known, "clickbait".

"Is Jaylon Smith wavering on his commitment to ND?! Click to read more!!"

"No. No he isn't. That'll be $9.95, sucker."

That's why I said he needed to improve his NFL stock, and hopefully he either knows this now, or will once he sits down with the committee.

I can see him going undrafted. Especially with the alleged pot issue.

i figured he was leaving when he made the lap around the field with the seniors after the WF game.

Undrafted? Not a chance...he needs to improve his timing and north/south commitments and delivering a blow like Theo but these are things an NFL team don't want to teach but they wouldn't let a raw talent like Cierre go to a divisional rival. Cierre is good but his lightbulb hasn't really gone on and when it does...in the meantime, there seemed to be a butting of the heads between BK and Cierre, perhaps on these very issues. So now it's ego. Does Coerre want to come back and get better or try and prove BK was wrong for not playing him more this year. That's my opinion.

Didn't Zack Martin also do that?

And Zack has been reported as being likelier to stay for the 5th year.

I think Cierre would get drafted, but there are no guarantees. Arrian Foster wasn't drafted. Darius Walker, who while not a great athlete was a good one, and who was incredibly productive in major college football, didn't get drafted. Every year a lot of really productive, athletic running backs don't get drafted at all. Even many who were high school studs, top 50 nationally type guys.

While this is true, one year in the NFL at the league minimum would pay for 2 or 3 master's degrees.

What is big money up front without the foresight, planning, discipline, and maturity to save and invest wisely?

Ok, ok... settle down... I'll tell you. It's this:

according to a 2009 Sports Illustrated article, 78% of National Football League players are either bankrupt or in financial trouble within two years of retirement

If CW makes it clear he won't be coming back, go all-in on Clement and Folston.http://www.ryak.info/15.jpg

Katzenboyer agrees with you, Heatherbot.
