GA3 better learn to run physical or perhaps it's Cam's time to shine.

Did we already forget about Will Mahone? =)

Although Cam can ball...

I remember people were saying Will Mahone was a combo of Cierre Wood and Jonas Gray

Mahone could do well or Carlisle even but it seems like it takes some time to develop the right mentality of a tough physical runner.

I think when Cierre gets his NFL prospect report he may think about returning
Agreed. He may wanna hold back on these comments until after he receives his draft grade. I am eager to see his grade. Carlisle and Atkinson are the future at tailback here at ND. Would like to see McDaniel get a real look also in the spring.

Unless all the off the field stuff is playing a factor. The pot bust in fall camp. Supposedly a bar fight. Rumored to being in and out of Kelly's doghouse.

If I told you(and you weren't Nostradamus aka OklahomaIrish) that 10 games in, Cierre Wood only had 570yds what would you have said?

Completely agree. I have been tough on Cierre and his game in the past and I wonder if there was more to the suspension story than we know. Either way, I compare Cierre to a faster, shiftier, and taller Darius Walker. A decent college back but not overwhelming. If he doesn't come back I wish him a long and prosperous NFL career.

The marijuana suspension isn't going to do him any favors at all. The NFL is not messing around now with any type of character issues. Kelly simply prefers Riddick hands down over Wood. It is very evident. He protects the ball better, catches better, and is more of a north-south runner. Wood appears to always want to break the big play.

He could always get drafted by the Broncos or the Seahawks right? :hat:

Cierre has all the measureables... it's the intangibles that are going to suppress his draft stock, if he gets drafted.

Seriously, he's going to come out at the same time as Theo Riddick... who clearly kept the starting position.

In the interviews and wonderlic, draft evaluators will determine where Cierre will finally land, but he would do himself a lot of good by returning and putting to rest all the issues that he's been tagged with in the background, a la Michael Floyd (who moved himself from 3rd to 1st with a dedicated season and solid play).

Wish him all the best, and he will have a degree. Thank you Cierre for all you have contributed to ND!!

Just what I was thinking... I hate to be a debbie downer for Cierre, but wow, keep your options open until you see where you will be drafted. Is he graduating after this year?

Don't blame him, I would graduate and get out too the way he has been in the doghouse all season. I LOVE Cierre and am going to happy to see him go on and do good things because he isn't being given the opportunity to do that at ND which he deserves. Bet he isn't/wasn't the ONLY kid on the team smoking pot.

I think Cierre is capable of great things... but I think he was given EVERY opportunity to showcase that talent if he had lived by the coach's rules and expectations.

Your post suggests that Kelly did not treat Cierre fairly... but from what I have seen, generally, Kelly is pretty straightforward. Practice and live in the way he expects... and you are the best at your position... you play. Otherwise, you sit or get fewer touches.

While in suspension, and upon returning from suspension, Cierre should have been on fire trying to prove he was deserving of the touches. Example... we get reports that Rabasa is starting to take reps from Ishaq in practice... all of a sudden, Ishaq's game elevates. Did that happen with Cierre when Riddick continued to get touches?

We can argue what type of back Cierre is, or wants to be, but Kelly had a particular expectation of his backs, and Riddick fit it best.

Last, I again point to Jonas Gray... i think he "got it" his senior season. I do no think Cierre "got it" like Jonas did.

Again, I think Cierre is a great talent... but for whatever reason, he didn't emerge as the hands-down number 1 back for the team. I believe he had the talent to be that back, but that he wasn't that player, suggests to me that he didn't do what he needed to get most of the reps on gameday.
