Anywhere but the Rose Bowl

So we have a BCS spot pretty much locked up. Projections these days point to Oregon and KSU in the title game(Go Furd! Hook 'em Horns!) and the latest BCS projections have us playing in the Granddaddy of them all, the Rose bowl against the winner of the B1G. Consider me mortified at this proposition.

I mean, it definitely would be poetic. The reason we aren't ranked higher in the BCS is because the B1G has shit the bed this season, MSU and Purdue have been hot garbage. So we end up getting to play a two/three loss B1G team, a game which would earn respect from no one and validate nothing about this team. At least if we were to play a consolation national championship game against Alabama, we might be able to weasel our way into getting an AP national championship. But the Rose bowl? No thanks.

I much prefer that we play in the Sugar Bowl... or against quality SEC talent.

The SEC has a grip on the voters that they are the best conference in all the land... so much so that they deserve half the slots in the top 10.

I think if KSU & Oregon are the NC... the voters will rationalize that they only got in because the SEC is SOOOOO strong, no one can escape that conference undefeated.

Everyone ignores that they play NO ONE out of conference. The only chance you get to see them play is in the bowls.

So, I want to play a quality SEC team in a BCS, and win... CFB needs to start puncturing the SEC uber alles balloon.

You may want that, but if the team that has shown up the last two weeks (and speckled throughout the season) shows up against an SEC team, we'll get our asses handed to us...

Exactly. Right now, I'd rather beat Wisconsin or Nebraska than get smacked by Georgia. Of course, we start seeing the team that beat Oklahoma again, disregard my last sentence.

You mean the team with the #1 scoring defense who does just enough on offense to get a victory? Yep, I'd still put them up against anyone in the country.

I completely agree with you, we have little to gain from beating a Nebraska or Wisconsin, with our ranking we should be playing against the likes of Bama, Georgia or Florida. We seem to play at our best when we are not the favourites, let's hope we get a high ranked opponent, then we can see where we are really at.

I like the idea of the Rose Bowl if for no other reason than it would drive Michigan fans berserk to see us in their cherished bowl game while they play in the Little Caesar's Bowl or some other shitty bowl game.

Nebraska and Wisconsin both travel well and Notre Dame alone saves the Rose Bowl from being a total joke this year without Oregon. If we do not make the championship game, then Pasadena is just fine with me because we would have no chance at the title regardless (there is no such thing as a split title any more and even if there were, we do NOT count titles like Alabama or we would have 22 of them!)...
