Now, I'm not sure if the reporter was trying to be coy and call out Nix or if he just worded his question really poorly. But, it was great to see BK jump to protect his player regardless of the reporters intent.

BaltimoreIrishDad 0
Kelly misunderstood the question, failed to pick up on the historical reference to chicken soup/Montana, found a young/weaker reporter and over reacted to an awkwardly worded, yet benign question. It's what bullies do.

It's what bullies do. He did word it wrong, but the "supposed to be sick" part certainly makes it sound as if he is trying to imply something. I don't think he's being a bully at all he's defending his player and I think it just shows how close this team and staff have grown. IrishPolock 0
bk didn't bully anyone... I would have reacted the same way.... reporter whether professional or amateur needs to word that better, start with for historical reference first so you don't make ut sound like you think nix was faking it. Franco 0
if it makes up for anything, Kelly said he felt really bad after someone explained to him the historical reference
2lakes 4
if it makes up for anything, Kelly said he felt really bad after someone explained to him the historical reference ?!? I would not have predicted that. Source?
HitchandGo 0
Ehhh... Kelly definitely took it the wrong way and it seemed pretty clear the reporter was implying that he was supposed to be physically limited which is understandable given his sickness, but pulled through and played great despite it. The chicken soup thing was clearly a quip and he expected Kelly to give an answer like, "Heh yeah he's a tough kid and he just battled though it and played great, ect." Kelly and the reporters makes jokes like this every week. I mean seriously.. think about it for a second. Why the hell would he imply that Nix was faking it? This is so far out in left-field that it makes absolutely no sense. I just think Kelly was prepared to deal with tough questions given the circumstances of the win and misunderstood the intent of the question. NDBadaBing 0
I guarantee once it all sort of comes out what the kid was trying to ask, BK will pull him aside and get it square with him. It was a simple misunderstanding/awkwardly worded question by a student reporter. But BK is a class act I am sure he will circle back to the kid and set things right. MyFightingIrish 0
This is a none story. Are we a bunch of sissies or what? BK wasn't even that mean about it. I just wasted 5 minutes....

No one is being a sissy. A college kid was trying to ask a good question but worded it awkwardly and Brian misunderstood and reacted accordingly. But in retrospect he know understands what the misunderstanding was and I predict he'll reach out to the kid at some point and get it squared up. That's how good people handle their business. There is nothing "sissy" about that at all.
Rocketsan 881
Also, BK just got out of a 3OT war. I give him a pass on not relating an awkwardly phrased question to a historical moment 35 years ago...
