Per Jake Brown II. Great news here for sure. What a miraculous turnaround for our secondary. Him and Luke would be fabulous conclusions to this haul. This is bigtime if this goes through. Maybe, Lane is losing his touch.

maybe the kid is smart enough to see beyond kiffins veil of bullshit.......

Yes sir. The million dollar question is when Pat Haden is going to see through it. Nothing would make me happier to see USC fall back into mediocrity during the pre Carroll era. Kiffin has them on a nice course here achieving that goal. Edited by OKCIrish99

Redfield is a tremendous talent---all signs say he will be irish---we may very well take the #1 spot in recruiting by signing day the way things are developing.

THATS THE #1 SPOT---

With the sad news about nichols we may end up with as many as 4 more commits including Redfield---

We will be getting premier players for all three or four spots---

Kelly is on the brink of becoming a juggernaut in recruiting----

I LIKE IT!!

aloha's

This kid has his head on straight. I don't like decommits, but this kid handled it about as well as you could. That isn't just because ND leads. From his facebook (supposedly):

"Going back on my word is something I never imagined doing and it hurts me to do it but in the end I feel is necessary to do in order to decide what college I want to go to and in the end what path I want to take in life. For many different reasons I am choosing to decommit from USC and re-open recruiting. I am sorry to the people I might let down or hurt in this decision but it is a decision that is crucial for my future athletically, academically, and spiritually. I will not be accepting calls for interviews, quotes etc."

That said, he'd be a huge get. Elite safeties are a major boon for any defense, but an elite safety plus an elite front 7 equals a dominate defense.

I think that if sc loses a couple more games, they may lose more than just Redfield. It's possible that they lose to us, ucla and Arizona state. Too bad they don't play Oregon state because they seem to have their number

I agree... USC is built on swagger... built on being Hollywood's alpha.

Losers are not Alpha...

You can get a decent education at SoCal, but that's not why 15 5* players sign-up.

I wouldn't sleep on Oregon and the guys on their staff, but this is great news for us.

Lets keep this in mind folks. We played a safety with two bum hands and half a week's worth of preparation because of the depth we have in the secondary or lack thereof. No question, there's still lots of time for guys like Procise, Hardy, Baratti, and Badger to figure things out, and it isn't like Collinsworth isn't coming back next year either... but the point remains that we're closer to beggars than choosers at this point. Getting a consensus Top 50 recruit at safety would go a long way towards making that position one where we're confident in the next man in.

Lets not also forget how many try-hard walk ons are playing for our special teams unit, and how much that unit could be better if we get some young scholarship pups like this guy in there to get their feet wet. I love the Chris Salvis and Mike Anellos of the world, but they can only do so much with what their bodies were given by God.

My wife never watched football before she met me, and now she likes to learn as much as she can. I explained how this kid wouldn't start as a freshman but he would be a special teams nightmare and get some reps at safety. This class will pay off immediately with all these linebackers and defensive backs that can run.

Think about it, our kick off team is not that good. It will be next year. Bank on it!!!

yeah he might not start but i think he gets into the safety rotation the same way shumate has this year. shumate and redfield starting together would be sick.

Agreed. I liked ND's Db recruits, but I wasn't thrilled, and DB was the one position that we needed to be thrilled with it. Cole Luke and Redfield add that extra punch that makes the current commits from good to great.

There simply will not be a weakness, lack of depth, or lack of experience on our roster for years to come.
