notredameroom
gonna be one of these two. even a 10-2 ND team most likely sees an at-large invite. biggest goal for ND: Just win. Nothing matters if that doesn't happen.

Gettysburg Irish
Wouldn't rule out the Sugar or Rose Bowls if Bama plays Oregon in the championship
jarious
Wouldn't rule out the Sugar or Rose Bowls if Bama plays Oregon in the championship Yep, the bowl associated to the #1 team would get first dibs on selection. So, if it holds to the current rankings, the Sugar would get the first pick (replacing host team Bama), followed by the Fiesta (replacing host team K-State). Of course, if Oregon flips to number two, then Rose gets number 2. Below is order after that.... January 2013 games: Fiesta, Sugar, Orange I already have Fiesta Bowl tix, so the ideal case would be two undefeateds with Kansas St-ND in the Fiesta. But would not be surprised to see ND get taken by the Sugar, and fitted against an SEC team (such as LSU, Georgia).

I dont think the irish have been there since '25 However, i feel we played enough big10 for the season
ND_Clover
If we don't make it to the national title game . I would prefer playing LSU . Our styles match up to be a great game. Can you imagine the collisions Nix, Teo , Tuitt and Carlo would have with that big thug of a man #44 the FB/DT look alike LSU has .Good God!!! That would be fun to watch. IRISH812
Of course I hope we play in the title game whether or not we deserve to be there, but if we don't make it I hope to God its not the Rose Bowl against a big ten team. That will prove nothing. I want to play an SEC team and prove to everybody that we can hang with them and beat them. Really any matchup besides playing a big ten team or louisville i'd be happy with. KellyisNasty
I have tickets to the fiesta bowl, so ideally that if ND doesnt make the NCG. I doubt the Sugar passes on Florida or Georgia if they lose out on Bama. Rose bowl is interesting since they would be taking Oregon State over Notre Dame, which I don't know if they would want that. ND vs Kansas St in the Fiesta (most likely) or ND vs Nebraska in the Rose (second most likely) or Notre Dame vs Clemson in the Sugar (least likely)

corysold
I think the Rose is still a major player for ND. If Oregon makes the title game Rose gets first pick. There may not be another PAC-12 team for them to pick. Stanford would have 3 losses. UCLA could have 3 losses. Oregon St would have at least 2 and they are #13 with one loss. Plus they play Stanford this weekend. If Stanford wins, I don't think another Pac-12 team can have less than 3 losses if Oregon makes the title game. I think the team has to be top 14 (maybe 16) to be eligible. Pac-12 might not get two teams that high. ND is a shoein at that point. CelticImport
Love the history of the Rose Bowl but can't see them inviting ND. I'd hate to see ND playing yet another Big 10 team - even with a win you'd hear, "down year, ND got fat on lousy B10 teams."
nremdn
I see some of the "experts" are predicting Notre Dame vs. Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl. To me that is the worst case scenario. I don't want to see that game again, I want to see how this team matches up with someone else. Rematches in bowl games are never as exciting as unique matchups. stdntDrvr
I'd love to see ND play UGA and destroy them I guess the only way that would happen would be for Oregon/K-State to play in the Nat'l championship game and UGA jump to #4 by beating AL in the SEC Championship Game. For my buck, if all four are undefeated, want to see no. 1 vs. no 2. and no. 3 vs. no.
