Green Goblin 114
I enjoyed the comeback win today. Enjoyed it more than WVU/Baylor or the USC/Oregon basketball games on grass and not just because it was ND. Just as I liked Bama-LSU more than either of those two aforementioned games. A system that would rob a program of a shot at a championship for not fitting that mold can f@#$ off. I'd much rather watch exciting games with equal parts offense and defense. Let's make this clear. Sure oregon scored 62 points....but it was by no means a blowout win. They also gave up 51 points. Shouldn't that mean SOMETHING? I don't understand why how many points you score seems to be all that matters anymore. Why don't pollsters punish teams that don't play defense? There's plenty of history showing when the great offense meets the great defense....the defense wins out. I don't understand it.
echo88 74
Glad you enjoyed it. Bama is playing someone, regardless of record. KSU won easily. Oregon barely beat their toughest opponent before they demolish with ease. ND struggled with a team that got their ass beat by Youngstown St. You tell me how you think this shakes out. OKCIrish99 3
Fortunately, the 4 team playoff system commencing in 2014 is a nice improvement over the current system. I wanted an 8 team but can live with 4. This issue is the lack of the 4 team system this year is going to hose us out of opportunity to play in the nc game. That I believe after tonight, although I certainly hope they get in.

Bah, no team is the same one week to the next. If Graham, Streets, and that other felonious turd played this way all season Pitt would be top 20 today. Like BK said, everyone brings their big boy pants against ND. You are right though, we dont deserve to be higher ranked than Ore, KSU, or Bama. We will remain at 4 I believe. Think KSU-ND would be a cool matchup although I'd rather play a more perennial traditional power.

Could see us moving up to 3 although doubtful to 1 or 2. Just don't see Bama or Oregon losing the rest of the year.

IrishWarrior81 0
I don't care how you break it down, the ND team that played today does not deserve to play in the NC. I will be ecstatic if we can win out. The last thing I want is for ND to get placed into a bowl that is out of our league only to get embarrassed again on the big stage. I hate the Fiesta Bowl. Haden will keep Kittin around due to his recruiting. He's not a good coach and certainly not person for that matter also. Almost like him staying though. People have quickly forgotten that many picked Kittin's Trojans to win the nc this year. Now, they have 3 losses.
zemaniak 105
Becomng a big fan of Stanford, Texas and Georgia Because it's become obvious we ain't gonna be the prettiest dressed belle at the NC ball Got a good feeling against BC, hope we play Wakemlights out at home for senior day And fingers crossed that our secondary can hold USC That being said, should we get to the big show, can we hang with Bama? Oregon? Oregon i believe their O can exploit our D more than the opposite I'd rather play Bama personally But whatever happens in the NC, please ND, make it to 12-0, win out and BEAT USC! Gettysburg Irish 0
I'm just enjoying the ride, was optimistic for a 10-2 season, was expecting 8-4, would love a 13-0 NC season but it wouldn't be the end of the world if we were 13-0 and bcs bowl win. Kelly is building something here, just glad to be a witness.

I have a horrible feeling that they will find a way to deliver our 1st loss though. Marquise Lee is unreal.

OKCIrish99 3
Echo believes in the worst case scenario? Shocked. Shocked I tell you. What do you believe in regarding our final 2012 fate? We all know that you believe Alabama is going to beat the crap out of the Oregon Ducks in the title game.
Green Goblin 114
What do you believe in regarding our final 2012 fate? We all know that you believe Alabama is going to beat the crap out of the Oregon Ducks in the title game. Actually just came in here to tell you ESPN's "specialist" said ND winning today was Oregon's worst nightmare because it could happen that Bama/ND/KSU come out ahead of Oregon in the computers. In that case, Oregon might find itself out of the NC game. If KSU/ND can get close enough to Oregon in enough human polls. Now obviously all that means...nothing right now but it made me smile, if we get screwed, I hope Oregon gets screwed, too. Screw those guys. I personally think we will win out and some freakish, freakish stuff will occur in-between and my dream will come true (yes, I really had a prophetic dream) of.... Notre Dame-Oregon in Miami. National Championship game.
OKCIrish99 3
That would be good. Oregon still has Oregon St and Stanford also helping their sos and computer ranking. Would be surprised if they're kept out of the title game but your news is encouraging.
Green Goblin 114
To clarify that, he's saying KSU could come out #1 in the computers and Oregon #4 and then Oregon and KSU would go 2/3 in the human polls and that computer gap would put KSU in over Oregon. moostache 0
Here's what I hate about the B©S...Oregon gets lauded for scoring 62 and everyone ignores that they give up 51 in the process...now say we go out to L.A. and put a 17-6 beating on the Trojans and hold Barkley and Co. without a TD (VERY unlikely, I know) or say 24-13 (with two Lee TDs and a missed XP?)? Then what? Is Oregon more impressive for running a track meet with USC or would Notre Dame be more impressive by shutting down that offense and controlling the game? Both teams would have 11-point margins of victory, both teams would have won in their own style and both teams would be indistinguishable in the computer for the games against the Trojans... The "human"element is so biased towards points that its sickening. Time after time we see the defense beat the offense in title games (Auburn over Oregon, Florida over OSU, LSU over OSU, NYG over Patriots, and on and on and on), yet when you allow the moron brigade of SID's and hack writers to vote, they look at the box score, see a big number and wet their pants a little...its really pathetic.... Now, if Alabama insists on claiming 14 national championships, I am going to start claiming all 22 of Notre Dame's possible championships and if we go unbeaten and so does Alabama, then I'm sorry, in my eyes we will be the legitimate co-champions for 2012 and maybe we can get matched up with them in the 2014 bowl season... The death of the B©S cannot come soon enough....
