hawaiiirish 62
Yes that was a stressful mess in many ways but lets give it up for everett--- he brought us back with 23 fourth quarter & overtime points-- He came back after leading the team 90 yards only to throw a pick in the endzone-- He came back in the second half even after being lifted for REES for really no legitimate reason-- He ran the best of his career-- He showed ALOT OF WILL--ALOT OF LEADERSHIP!! 23-42 --228 yards passing --another 77 yards running--300 total yards--- He ran for a touchdown & threw for two-- He hit the BIG PLAYS-- He saved the game with that fantastic RUN FOR TWO POINTS-- ON A FLAT DAY OFFENSIVELY & DEFENSIVELY__DESPITE AN IFFY QB CHANGE__GOLSON BRINGS US TO 9-0---He was the difference! aloha's go irish! SpecialFNK 0
Golson IS the QB for ND. Rees should have never been in the game. ..well other than the 1 play where Golson had to go out after losing his helmet. but other than that, Rees should have never been in the game. corysold 0
If Golson can just figure out how to hit the wide open reciever over the middle he'd be unstoppable. I swear he's missed about 6 TD's that way this year.

I hope BK has learned his lesson with that little experiment. I could understand if Golson was stinking it up but there was no reason for Rees to be in there. hawaiiirish 62
Golson was the "FIXER" today--- He FIXED his own INT mistake by running & passing his team to a win against the odds--- He FIXED brindza's mistake of missing the extra point with that dandy run for two-- He FIXED Cierre's mistake by getting us a win He FIXED Ree's mistake by coming in and winning taking REES OFF WHAT WOULD HAVE BEEN A TRAGIC GOAT GAME! He FIXED Kelly's mistake of blowing the QB rotation by overthinking REES on 3 striaght drives that did nothing but cost us a turnover that led to a BIG LEAD FOR PITT! Everett Golson---in this game---he was the FIXER of many errors aloha's go irish!---

I think kelly put too much on his shoulders today though. we should have ran. In fairness to myself and other rees supporters, this is not the eg we saw early in the year. but props to hawaii and the rest for being more forward thinking then I was about the benefits of letting him learn on the fly. His body language, calmness, and confidence during the OU game were unbelievable during the OU game. Sat right behind him during the game. Give it up for Everett Golson!!:thumb:

Jersey Irish 207
He got the game ball from Kelly and deservedly so, When the chips were down and many of the naysayers on this board jumped ship, he "played like a champion." There is no QB controversy, Golson is the man!
EddieAngel 615
Say what you want about Kelly starting Rees after halftime, but he left EG in after he threw a potentially game losing pick in the end zone even though Tommy is, apparently, better during the 2 minute drill. He made the right choice when it mattered. EG needed this game more than the OK game.

OklahomaIrish 0
Offense gets better every single game. We had a wild bunch at the house tonight as we picked up two new people. They loved the atmosphere. 3 tv's a blaring. Lots of hollering. I never lost hope, but a couple of my guys did.

IrishMouse 0
really great seeing golson play that well. i wish he would call roll outs with the option to pass more when its 3rd and 4th and a couple but i thought he played well, well done

I swear he's missed about 6 TD's that way this year. THIS is why Kelly benched Golson. Yes, he's our best option but when he misses wide open receivers and throws INTs instead, what would you have Kelly do?
CelticImport 61
21. more. first. downs. Not yards, not plays, but FIRST DOWNS. 21 more first downs than Pitt and we trailed by 14 in the 4th quarter. ...and we were lucky that Pitt missed a FG in OT to give us a chance to stay in it. Yes, EG did some amazing things out there last night, but if he did the little things right there never would have been a need for heroics. That being said, he took the team on his back and willed it to victory.
