corysold 0
Kelly mentioned in the presser today that 3 walk-ons are playing on special teams in front of 3 scholarship players who should be filling that role, but aren't playing up to expectations. He more or less called them out. Any idea on who he could be talking about? He mentioned Romeo, but in a sense that he's improved as the game has slowed down for him. The Four Horsemen 6
I know Salvi plays on special teams but don't know if he is included in the talk . He was given his scholly this spring after formerly being a walk on. I do not know who the others are.

NDBadaBing 0
Schmidt is a darn good football player. I'd love to know who the scholarship kids are Kelly is referring to,

DamshaBua 50
Joe Schmidt has been in on a lot of special teams tackles. He went to HS right down the street from me. He must have the worst measurables ever. From the film I saw, dude was always flying around and making plays. I don't think he had one D-1 offer. I think he'll end up on scholarship at the minimum for his senior year. I'd also like to know the names of the other 2 walk-ons.

He looked so good on the film that was posted on this board that I asked how he was different from those that were offered scholarships...apparently he was different only in that he was better. phony 0
Chris Badger hasn't participated in a single game this season . . .
IanY77 4
Checked the Oklahoma participation report: http://www.und.com/sports/m-footbl/stats/2012-2013/ou.html I saw Connor Cavalaris (safety) and Joe Schmidt (LB) as the non-schollie players. In the BYU game, Tyler Plantz (RB) played, in addition to the other two I just mentioned. I guess that would be the three. No idea who they replaced. irishguy773 0
Well, the scholarship guys that play positions that would normally play special teams (and are not preserving a redshirt year of eligibility this year) appear to be: CJ Prosise (has he played this year, I'm not sure) Nicky Baratti (or did he tweak a shoulder earlier this year?) Badger (but may be using a redshirt) Josh Atkinson Jalen Brown Eilar Hardy Anthony Rabasa Jarrett Grace Kendall Moore Carlo Calabrese (though I think I've seen him in on some special teams coverages) Possibly Luke Massa or Daniel Smith, too? I've seen Smith in less and less at wideout this year. For that sakes, John Goodman, too. I'm not saying any of these guys are the "slackers" he's referring to, but they play the positions that would typically be the prime Special Teams roster and are not primarily in the playing rotation (or are more of the backups) at their normal positions. Gettysburg Irish 0
I believe Chris Salvi's brother Will has gotten some PT on kick coverage
jarious 0
I'd be more curious who the three scholarship players are that aren't getting it done? When I was watching the presser, Eilar Hardy was the guy that immediately came to mind. Also surprised Rabasa isn't on teams. Just thinking of younger guys who aren't really in the two-deep mix and still not getting burn.
1qa 0
Dangerous game... But, Surprised j Atkinson , Hardy & jalen brown haven't seen the field in a ST capacity

Not sure but Smith did throw a key block on an OU DB when Cierre broke his TD run...and Goody has been having back problems. Don't Daniels and Smith play the same wiedout spot? DD has probably over taken him. We need 33 to give us his take on Rabassa. That's the guy I'm most surprised to see not playing much. corysold 0
Regardless if who it is, this is the difference between ND and the SEC. SEC teams fund a away to dump those three guys and bring in three more.

NDrunner04 3
Is it really three particular players or just pointing out that having three walk-ons playing means that no scholarship players have stepped up? ^^^this. That's how I took it when BK made the statement. Don't think he is referring to 3 specific guys.
NDBadaBing 0
Is it really three particular players or just pointing out that having three walk-ons playing means that no scholarship players have stepped up? There are a ton of scholarship players on special teams so it's difficult to say no scholarship players have stepped up. All you'd really have to do us figure out the depth chart for each special team and see who is behind those three walkons.
