Chocolate Owned Gabe Ikard

Do you guys remember when we recruited Gabe Ikard? He went to a local Catholic high school and it was between us and OU. We were thinking defensive end. OU moved him to center when they took a couple hits in the O line. I was looking forward to seeing this matchup because, frankly, I don't think Gabe is very stout. It showed. Chocolate pushed him around all night. Big, Big, reason we stuffed the run. Thanks for going to OU Gabe. PS: I knew his daddy.

Was just doing a little research on where chocolate is rated as far as nfl prospects...according to nfldraftscout.com he is currently the 2nd highest rated DT...also some EARLY mock drafts for 2014 have him going 6th overall and tuitt 4th overall... I think he'll stay and get his degree fwiw and get that top 5 or 10 pick money next year

I'm getting semi-worried about him leaving after THIS year. He comes from tough upbringings and I'm sure his family is counting on him to change that.

Now, hopefully he watched the 30 for 30 called Broke and understands the importance of education and making the money work for you instead of the other way around.

Absolutely, would love nothing more to see him back. Would be amazed if we had him two more years.

But, you're right, OU had NO CHOICE but to double him. If they left him one on one, it was a pleasure to watch. The opposite of watching Eric Olsen try to block BJ Raji a few years ago.

Think about next year~~Tuitt~Nix~Day. You can't double team everybody. Throw in Shembo and bring in Jaylon Smith. Simply put, the defense gets better next year.

Seriously, how many of you guys that graduated college don't know at least one investment banker or stock broker from one of the big houses? These players, if they were nice to people, have people that would legitimately bend over backwards to make sure they are financially set forever.

I think he will be first-round. Why do you think he won't?

Beacuse of who's in front of him:

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d8289ff57/article/2013-nfl-draft-top-five-prospects-by-position

Defensive Tackles

1. *Johnathan Hankins, Ohio State, 6-4/317

2. Star Lotulelei, Utah, 6-4/325

3. *Sharrif Floyd, Florida, 6-3/305

4. Jesse Williams, Alabama, 6-4/320

5. Sheldon Richardson, Missouri, 6-4/295

Hankins is this year's version of Dontari Poe -- a huge athletic specimen who played end and tackle for the Buckeyes. 2011 Pac-12 Defensive Lineman of the Year Lotulelei will be a household name (pronounced lo-too-leh-lay), while Alabama's Williams could be another versatile Tide performer going to the pros.

Who do you put Nix over on that list? I know I'm biased here, but I think the coaches can make a case for saying for 2013. They can also point to Manti and how he's elevated his game in pass coverage.

From what I've read, I'd put Nix 3rd behind Hawkins and Star. Both those guys had way more pre-season hype than nix but Nix has had arguably one of the best seasons of any NT. I cannot see how, if he came out, he fell out of the top 15. Yes, he could come back and go top 10, however.

I know a lot of people don't buy this argument, but he may be giving up the best year of his life. Do you honestly think Manti would trade anything for this year? Life doesn't get any better then this. Sitting in that stadium the other night with all those hostile Sooners was the best day in my life. My family was spread out but we all got together inside the stadium with the band, cheer leaders, team etc.... as the Sooners scurried for the gates. You just can't put a dollar figure on that.

I saw Manti up close when he was coming off the field. He will never ever forget these moments. Chocolate is a stud. He's getting a lot of attention. Evidently he's smart enough to get that degree, and that degree means a lot.

Take out an insurance package from Lloyds of London or wherever they get them these days, but don't miss the best part of your life.

Got talking to a NFL scout Saturday and he told me if Nix and Tuitt stay healthy and do what there doing next season that both will be considered Top 5 picks.

He's convinced that ND has the best front 7 but that we haven't and might not see them at there most dynamic because the LB haven't been able to take full advantage of what the DL is doing because they are often playing it safe and protecting the young and average secondary.

During the OU-ND game he kept point out what I posted above because what he was seeing was that there was almost 3 players trying to contain Nix.

He absolutely loves Manti but that's expected by anyone who knows the game but thought that it's almost criminal that there are so many of the talking heads that don't give props to how good Fox and Spond are.

This is all true and should play a roll.

However, the kid is one of 12. It doesn't sound as though his family has a lot. Him getting drafted, even in the second or third round, is a huge boon for that family. You can't fault a kid for making that choice.

I sure don't envy him for having to make it either way.
