Making the Pilgramage

After last nights game, I woke up this morning and told myself that I had to make it out to South Bend for this season! I have never seen a home game and I have been dying to get back there for as long as I can remember. I have seen them when they have come out to California a couple times though, but it’s just not the same. I want to be apart of this magical season, what better time to come out then now??

I have grown up never having the Notre Dame of old like my father and all my extended family out east, however I have been true to them my entire life. Even through the 3-9 season I wore my Irish gear with pride out here in Trojan country! This season has been one of the most exciting and electrifying times in my life. I need to be out there for this, I realize how special and rare this time is.

I will never have this opportunity to make it out there for a very long time. I am in the army reserves, and also finishing up my last year of college out here in Fresno. This time next year I will be getting married, as well being commissioned as an active duty infantry officer. The stars have aligned for me to make the trip out there. It is just perfect timing for me to get out there now. I know its last minute to get out there this weekend for Pitt. However, my father flies for united airlines, so traveling shouldn’t be an issue. But since I am not 25 renting a car is out of the question.

So my questions to you veterans are: where is the student section? And is it possible to get seats in there? Do any domerdomain members meet for the weekend and go through all the festivities together? Which airport is best to fly into, and is there a train or something to south bend?

I hope this works out and I get to meet some of you guys in person!

THE TIME IS NOW!! GO IRISH!

1. Student section is at/near lower sections 31,32,33,34,35,36 (36 being right next to the tunnel). Upper sections 131,132,133,134, 135,136 northwest corner of stadium. Enter at Gate E.

2. Yes, it's possible to get seats there.

3. There is a few DD'ers that have tailgates out there and it's seems more and more that domeanddomer is the hot place to meet. No, none of us have done the tours together.

4. If I was flying in I'd fly into Chicago Midway airport and either rent a car or take the United Limo bus. It's not expensive and brings you right here.

Goo luck & congrats on your upcoming commission. I tried for a long time to go back to active duty. I decided to start my own biz & they were handing out active orders like hotcakes right after. You did inspire me tho! My wife and I are planning on getting tix & flying out for the Wake game, if at all possible. She's never been to a home game & I havent been to one since 1988 (nd/rice )

Right on man! This season is to special to not make it out! You will get to see teo on senior day, thats awesome! I could not be more excited for this trip, it will be our first trip back. I didnt have the grades in highschool to apply to ND, cause I didnt want the rejection haha but my dream is after I get out of the army to apply to the law school at ND. Been working my ass of to have a chance at that!

I have been in the army guard now for 3 years (infantry) while doing pre law and economics at Fresno state. Things have been going really well, and I'm excited to go active. My commission will be 4 years, going to ranger school next summer (still waiting on the orders). Plus just got engaged this summer (have an awesome story about that). So all I can say is it's been a really awesome time in my life and I'm so happy to finally get back this weekend!

Hope you and your wife have an awesome time!

Seems to be a great year to make a pilgrimage. I made my first trip ever to a home game (had made a trip to the campus in the summer two years ago) last week against BYU and had a great time. Got to meet a couple of the domer domain guys including Speedster there. The tailgaiting was great, the people were fantastic, and the experience was better than I expected it would be...

Good luck and have fun!

Thanks Mcdougal, this weekend cannot get here soon enough! Just woke up this morning and thought I just had to get out there this weekend! Thank God my dad flies for united or it just would have been to expensive on my budget. Every door just opened up today, it is unreal!

Last weekend must have been great to watch! The campus looked awesome (from tv) lol!

I really hope to meet some of you guys out there.
