Just a question...

Did we have an interest in Gareon? My son and I just talked to him (my son is in 7th grade and goes to Massillon.) My son then asked him something about Michigan. Gareon stated that he isn't going to go to Michigan even though he is listed as a verbal recruit on Scout and has been verbally commited for a while now... I noticed he was the 15th overall corner prospect and was just wondering if anyone knew anything about his recruitment.

How about Harry Stuhldreher QB of The Four Horsemen?? Of course, I don't think the momentum of that one will carry over to current recruits.

You and this Colin fellow are smart, astute posters.

That is the scuttlebutt 'round these parts...hey, Colin, you think Chapman ever actually plays QB @Pitt? I see position change in that kid's future.

Funny you mention Tra because I just talked to him today. He's a composed kid when talking to the media — he know exactly what to say. I guess that's part of being a coach's kid. I really hope things work out well for him because he's always been super respectful to me and comes from a really great program (in terms of the coaches and administrators who run it) in Kent Roosevelt.

But as for him as a player? It's hard to tell because he quite literally plays *no one*. Roosevelt has beaten two teams with an above .500 record this year and one of the two teams is a total fluke at just 5-4 overall — they're not a legitimate team.

He's a good athlete and has a strong arm (2,384 yards passing, 30 TDs to 7 INTs) — he's a D-1 athlete, for sure. All you have to do is see him play to know that. He's almost had 500 yards rushing, so he's a good runner and it makes me think he could find a spot somewhere on the field, if not QB.

But it's really hard to tell at this point in Chapman's career if he can go to Pitt and handle playing Clemson or Florida State as a QB. The jump in competition from where he is now to that level is absolutely hilarious. That's not his fault, but it's what he's going to deal with.

Pitt Coach Paul Chryst visited Tra and compared him to Russell Wilson in his athleticism and QB style. Who knows how much of that is reality and how much is a coach BS'ing a kid into what he wants to hear. I do think ND getting Zaire landed them the better Ohio QB, though.

I agree he is a D1 athlete, I just don't know if he's a D1 QB. He shoulda gone to Kent cuz he could play QB there, IMO...

He's too good an athlete to play for Kent — no offense to our alma mater. The good athletes Kent has end up there because they were overlooked as recruits.

I know that his father is a coach with Kent and that's why he moved to the area, but his father wasn't really ever a factor in his decision on a college. I'll leave it at that (nothing negative about his father — just some stuff I know about from digging around).

I dunno. I think he's too short to play QB at Pitt and I think he is given a serious shot to play QB at Kent. Of course, I think Golson's too short so... ;-)

I stood in front of him on the field last night -- he's about 6-1. That's taller than Russell Wilson by two or three inches.

First of all -- good for him! UM's approach, while good for the school, is probably tough for the kid if he's not completely sure. So take your visits, make a good choice!

Great that you posted this a week ago -- awesome inside info. He's still shown as a commit on scout, but it sounds like he's out based on what I've seen on other sites.

Detroit paper has an article up on him today indicating he wants to visit OSU and Oregon but has yet to talk to the scUM coaches. Either way, no mention of ND. Stated OSU was his boyhood favorite and scUM was the first and only place he visited hence having second thoughts.

During the Massillon - McKinley game last week the rumor was possibly Oregon. Gareon even wore the "Volt" colored socks underneath his orange and black Massillon uniform.

I wouldn't be surprised if O$U moved in, Gareon's former teammate, Devin Smith, is a WR there. Also his current teammate QB Kyle Kempt is headed to Cincinatti.

At this point there are 3 schools that keep being mentioned, Cincinatti, Oregon and O$U.

Also, I know that there have not been many Maaalon or McKinley players that have attended Notre Dame. I was just curious if we had any interest since he is a highly rated corner.

Just went to pick up Massillon playoff tickets and saw Gareon wearing an Oregon hoodie. Then I spoke to my buddy that is close to his family and he heard it Oregon and won't announce till NSD. For what it's worth...

Decommitted from Michigan today/yesterday. Was he ever a guy we were looking at?
